Do not use H & R Block for your taxes!

I just received a letter from the IRS claiming that I never filed my 2009 tax forms. Actually I had them done by H&R Block and the woman who did them was rather surly and kept repeating "Boy, do I need a stiff martini right now!" They also charged me about $500 for their services.

I called Block and they've already printed out a copy of the completed forms but insist that I go to their Selden office and pick them up personally. That means a drive of about 23 miles to their year-round facility. I also have to provide a photo ID.

This will all work out but it's causing me stress that I just don't need right now.

Avoid H&R Block. They are scurrilous wretches!

The one nice thing about making no money is doing your taxes yourself in about 20 minutes for free.

I did them myself this past year with better results.

I've used H&R Block for over 10 years now, and I have "complicated" taxes with multiple sources of revenue and multiple avenues of business. They've been terrific for me and gone the extra mile to make sure I get back as much as possible.

But I get it, Dolly. That photo ID request is simply beyond outrageous.

"That photo ID request is simply beyond outrageous."

It really is outrageous. Why can't they just accept a daguerreotype and be done with it?
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

Considering Dolly's ID was carved into a stone tablet, it's really heavy to carry around, ya' all!

You should hear what she says about your interviews.

On the subject of taxes - does anyone here use TurboTax? Is it worthwhile? Can it be used to file late for previous years?

I love Turbo Tax. It's very easy to use (basically idiot proof). I used it once for a previous year, and it was quick and easy, but it does cost money. For the current year, there are different options, one of which is free, but that option is not available for past years.

I used Tax Slayer for my 2010 taxes and was happy with the outcome.

As Block charged me about $500 to do the job, you'd think they'd have remembered to hit the "send" button on their computer. Between that and the fact that the woman who did my taxes was a bitch, I think I have every right to be annoyed.

My FABULOUS H&R Block preparer of 23 years has always had my best interest at heart. She has saved me thousands of dollars by asking me directed questions. I'm not sure why you are lambasting an entire company based upon your experience with one person. H&R Block sends me an email when my return has been accepted by both the State and the Feds. Those almost always arrive one day later. No complaints here.

I get their confirmation emails, too.

And Dolly is assuming this was all H&R Block's fault. It could have been a glitch in the IRS servers that received it, no?

Or maybe Dolly accidentally listed her address as Harmonia Gardens again. That would have F'd things up too.

Excuse me, Dolly Levi lives in Yonkers, NY. She only visits the Harmonia Gardens on weekends.

Thank you very much.

Excuse me, but Dolly Levi lived in New York. Dolly Vandergelder lives in Yonkers. In fact, I hear she's a benefactress to half the town, spreading money around like manure.
Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

Which would mean that at the beginning of the show, Dolly has come up from NYC to meet Ermengarde and bring her back to NYC--while Vandergelder is with both of them? If Dolly lived in the city, why couldn't Horace bring Ermengarde down to the Big Apple himself and introduce her to Dolly when they got there?

I think Dolly had lived in NYC--as evidenced in her touching little scene with Mrs. Rose--but had moved up to Yonkers with her husband, who was a merchant like Vandergelder.

You're losing it, DP - Dolly IS in NYC at the beginning of the show and she does go up to Yonkers to bring Ermengarde back with her. Sheesh!

and she stands in the bedroom of her NYC apartment asking Ephram to let her go.

There is no scene in the musical that is set in Dolly's bedroom.

I got a little confused. I was listening to the Israeli cast album today and everything is backwards. You know how it is.
