Rath, I had the biggest pre-gay crush on Tammy "Teenage Diner Prostitute" Lauren when I was a kid. She seemed to pop up in every sitcom and TV-movie of the early eighties.
When I close my eyes I can still see those feathered bangs.
Parks - sorry for the brief threadjack!

I liked Tammy Lauren on "Angie".
Sorry to threadjack but "Angie" was a good show.
It had a great cast and a slammin' theme song performed by Maureen McGovern who has the voice of an angel.....has anyone ever heard her version of Superman's love theme "Can You Read My Mind"?
Again, sorry for the threadjack!

They didn't use it in the movie Rathnait.
It may have been included on the album, but it's spoken by Margot Kidder in the film.
That's where I was coming from.

Posted: 6/25/05 at 1:20pmWeird...as I recall, it was released and played on the radio around the same time as the movie was released, no?

Yes it was. At the time McGovern recorded for Warner Bros Records. Warner Bros. Pictures released the film. In order to boost the movie's popularity and because McGovern was so known for her recording of themes (Poseidon Adventure, Towering Inferno, Angie) they had her record the love theme for radio airplay.
They were supposed to use it in the film but Richard Donner felt it was best to use it as part of Lois Lane's thoughts during the Lois/Superman flying sequence and they had Kidder speak the lyrics instead....
It was actually a brilliant idea to have McGovern record the song. She sang the song beautifully and they should have used it over the ending credits.

Mindy Cohn LOVES this thread!
re: Do you ever find yourself singing the Facts of Life theme song?#36
Posted: 6/25/05 at 1:32pmShe did sing it beautifully, as she always does - and it is a beautiful song to begin with. Yes, they should have used it over the end credits.

Posted: 6/25/05 at 1:53pmShe was played by the girl who took over the Mrs. Butterworth commercials from Kim Fields, right? Kind of a scratchy voice?

I miss the Facts of Life! I wasn't around the first time it was on, but when it came back on Nick at Nite, I was OBSESSED!

Posted: 6/25/05 at 8:52pmNICK AT NITE is not what it used to be. They used to always show Get Smart too , which I LOVE. Now pretty much everytime I tune in it's Three's Company, which I do enjoy but not every time I tune in.
