I think the previous on-set kerfuffle had to do with him complaining about Pierce's escalating racism and then he said something to effect of "What's next? I call them [Yvette and Donald] [racial slur]?"

NBC boss Bob Greenblatt said he is "absolutely hopeful" that Community will return for a fifth season.
It's nice to hear, but I'll believe it when I see it.
Only 32 days till it returns!
NBC Updates on Community, The Office and Up All Night

Every time I see this thread bumped up, I get a sick feeling in my stomach I expect to open it and learn the show's been canceled.

Oh no, baby, I'd give that its own thread. Then I'd begin to sob.
Megan Ganz has moved on to write for Modern Family. At least she is now on a show that is guaranteed a back-order.

Yeah, I really can't blame people for jumping ship at this point. I don't care how "hopeful" Greenblatt says he is; the show basically just got this season so it would have enough episodes for syndication, and barring a truly miraculous ratings increase it's not going to be renewed. And you know what? Such is life. I'm pissy about how Sony handled the Harmon situation, but it's pretty remarkable we got as many episodes as we did.
So--forgive me, but I'm completely confused.
'Community' IS coming back with more, new episodes? Or not? I saw a commercial for it, that I just assumed meant new episodes. Or are they just re-cycling from the beginning?

I'm still hoping this isn't going to be the end, but I'm steeling myself for the fact that it probably is.
NBC needs to cancel fan favorites like this so they can make more shows like that HILARIOUS one with doctor and the monkey.

At least Up All Night is coming back, and now with a studio audience! It's gonna be so much better!!!!!!!
Seriously.
They kill 'MILF Island' but keep the thing with the Monkey? That's just crazy...

They cancelled the thing with the monkey, so maybe Annie's Boobs will come back where she belongs.
Parks & Rec is not exactly safe either so we could have a turnover of Community, The Office (though this is a mercy kill and I have no idea what the show is doing right now), 30 Rock, and P&R. That was their entire comedy block for one night.
One thing to note is Sony Television is super aggressive and would push for Community to reach a syndication threshold (it did get the Comedy Central block like 30 Rock got but probably wants to put more out to give to networks affiliates) so I can see it getting a 5th, albeit shorter season.
And I hate to point this out but the Russo Brothers (one of the creative forces behind Community) were responsible for Animal Hospital or whatever it was called, so Annie's Boobs was even more network/creative synergy than originally thought.
Soup TV aired a hilarious preview on Weds night. I am so excited!!!

Strummergirl, Community will be up to the modern syndication threshold after this season. 80 is a good-enough number these days for comedies - you don't actually need to get to 100. And by the end of the fourth season, Community will have aired 84 episodes.
