I don't get this song. I've had countless discussions with friends about the song and we don't get it. I know this is random, but this song is crazy. "Put a bullet to his head, get it over with" is one of the lines from the song. Does she want to kill him and why? She's the one cheating.

She talks about how she's a murderer, so I think the song is kind of talking about how she's slowly killing him by cheating...so putting a bullet to his head would be quicker, but it's the same result. So, cheating is bad and is equivalent to death? I don't know, I've only listened to it twice, because the whining gets to me after a short time.

First off: Man I hate her voice.

Second, I think she's saying it because she wants to put him out of his misery. She says "I see him die a little more inside" and then after the bullet line she says "get it over with." So just put him out of the misery of knowing that she's unfaithful etc.

Yes. It took me a minute to get it as well; Dirty Rotten Scoundrel nailed it right on the head.

Apparently, the song was written by Ne-Yo ("So Sick"); he wanted to show that not only men are cheaters.

Okay, I guess that makes sense, but shouldn't she be wanting to kill herself instead of killing him? It seems to justify that cheating is okay? I don't really understand the message of the song besides what Joshua said, "girls cheat too."

this song makes perfect sense, i can't see how it wouldn't. the chorus says all that needs to be said. in case you don't remember it, it is:

"i don't wanna do this anymore
i don't wanna be the reason why
everytime i walk out of the door
i see him die a little more inside
i don't wanna hurt him anymore
i don't wanna take away his life
i don't wanna be a...murderer."

basically the only thing left to question is if she's talking about not wanting to be with him so she won't be cheating or whether or not she wants to quit cheating. I sorta interpreted this song to be her singing it to her other lover. i could very well be wrong, but that's just what it says to me. i'm not rihanna or ne-yo, so i guess i'll never know the exact true meaning.

Actually, she's talking about murdering his trust, not him, but it is a stupid song with a really poor message.

Edit: Not literally murdering him, anyway.

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be enbered with your old nonsense. ~ Emerson

I hated this song at first, but the song - and her voice - have grown on me like whoa.

The thing I don't get is: If she's so upset about cheating on him and she's so sorry for the pain she's causing him...WHY IS SHE CHEATING ON HIM? how STUPID is that?

and I know that he knows I'm unfaithful
and it kills him inside
to know that I am happy with some other guy
I can see him dying

she's not as happy with him as she is with someone else

I agree with the others. The song is basically about murdering his trust and probably his psyche. I personally find it to be a pretentious piece of crap, but I do like the tune...just not the lyrics.
