I read that people are already trying to save it... which I don't get. Shouldn't you watch it first to see if it's worth saving? And let it get on the air so that you can see if it even NEEDS saving? Maybe it'll be a hit!
Save Dollhouse?

I starred in a short film called Magnetic Personality. Check it out!

it's because of what they did to firefly. people loved it, but they kept moving the time that it was on around, so no one ever knew when it was on, and when they first aired it, they never aired the first episode, which explains a lot, so people were confused.

So excited!! I have a hard time believing that any Joss Whedon show might NOT be worth saving.

I love Eliza Dushku and hope the show does well. I was one of the few that actually followed Tru Calling.

i loved Tru Calling. Although, it was a little weird how they just wrote her sister out by uh, never speaking of her again.

Also, I know people are worried about the timeslot. Friday nights are where television goes to die. :/ It's not a great timeslot to start out with.

I love Joss Whedon, but I don't think Dushku is strong enough to believably play a different character each week. I hope this isn't a vanity project for her.

It reminds me a bit of ALIAS, the idea of this woman who transforms herself in order to achieve certain tasks. Only that ALIAS had a completely different way of getting there, but that show also had Eliza Dushku at one point. I watched part of the show and she just sort of lacked the strength to make the alter as appealing, interesting, and unique as say Jen Garner always made her alters work or as Toni Collette is doing weekly in UNITED STATES OF TARA.

I thought it was only okay, but the pilot apparently went through some re-writes and re-shoots, so I'll wait a few eps to see if the show develops into something worthwhile.
I don't think Dushku is a great actress, but I think she's shown some improvement over the last few years. She has a wealth of spunk and charisma and I can't help but root for her.

Eliza Dushku is obscenely hot. In fact, I think it was my discovery of her that eventually led to my discovery of the Kinsey scale. XD
Having said that, I've heard nothing but "meh" about the first episode. Worth a download, or wait and see if it's worth catching up in a few weeks time?

I am a HUGE Joss Whedon fan and am extremely excited he has a new show on TV. I really really hope it doesn't go the way of Firefly.
I actually liked the first episode better than I thought I would. When I had heard it went back for something like 3 re-writes, I was kind of worried. I really like the premise of the show and think it shows a lot of promise. It is like Buffy meets Alias. I can't wait to see what Joss has in store. I just hope he gets more than a few episodes to show it.

My reaction's pretty much the same as Taryn's -- so-so on the pilot, but it's Joss, and he's earned my investment in several episodes before making up my mind. The echoes (pun intended) of Alias reverberated pretty loudly for me, but I usually liked Alias, so that's okay.

I watch Flashpoint on Fridays, so I'm recording the first several episodes of Dollhouse to watch in one sitting---I caught a preview of the series at the Comic Con a couple of weeks ago, and I really like Eliza Dushku---I miss Tru Calling!

I just watched last Friday's episode--how did people enjoy it? I thought it was a vast improvement upon the pilot. It was exciting, interesting, and started to develop a real foundation of mysteries. I really liked seeing more about the handler relationship.

I'd read an interview with Whedon in Salon where he talked about how the first few episodes are necessary to really lay the foundation. I'm willing to invest a few weeks to see if it takes off.
Q: Based on the pilot, "Dollhouse" seems much less playful than some of your previous shows.
Whedon: It is less playful, which doesn't mean we don't play. There's a lot of silliness and repartee and fun, but first we have to win over the world. I think the first episodes are trying to get people to understand and accept how this world works. But the show really finds itself in the second half. It's really where we start to go, "Ohhhhhh, we can do thiiiis. Right, this is why we showed up!" And so I'm hoping people will stick with it.
Q: So you're doing a bait and switch? You're tricking them with the more conventional stuff up front?
Whedon: Well, it's more that by episode six, people know the characters, they get it, now we can start to really mess with them

Haven't watched it.

David Fury was the actual headwriter--as he did for some years of Angel. I think his work without Whedon kinda stinks, but, for me, the best years of much of Whedon's work are when he wasn't showrunner (all of Angel, Fury did most of Firefly, season two of Dollhouse, etc).
