San Francisco Opera is going to be opening a new operatic treatment of Stephen King's Dolores Claiborne in about a month. If anybody who lives out there catches it please report back. Hopefully SFO will do a recording (either audio or video) because this could be something really incredible.
San Francisco Opera Brings Stephen King's 'Dolores Claiborne
WHOA. This is something I would love to see!!!
It's a great story with an equally great film adaptation.
Best of luck to them!
This thread title cracks me up a bit.
I can almost picture a nervous stage manager making the announcement after a poor actress's health had been called in to question.
He gathers the cast and crew together backstage, clears his throat ... and then ...
"Dolores Claiborne will sing."
I suppose it reminds me of "Victoria Page will not dance the dance of the Red Shoes tonight ... or any other night ..."
Dolores Claiborne is a particularly well-suited source for opera.
One of my favorite movies. I hope this does well. I would love to see it.

I like the film a good deal -- Judy Parfitt was robbed of a Best Supporting Actress Oscar that year. The novel's interesting, as well, very different from the film.

Hopefully if it does well at SFO BAM and City Opera will do another collaboration to bring it to NY like they are doing with Anna Nicole.
