i just want to say, i am fairly new to the board and i HAVE attempted using the search button and i don't always get the results or the answers i am looking for. so i start a new thread. i don't think its necessary for some of the folks who have been on this board for a long time to make a rude comment or lash out at someone for asking a question that may have been discussed already! new people sign up for this board every day and maybe have a fresh thought(or not fresh thought) or new idea or comment. i think they should be allowed to do so without people being rude. SIMPLY don't participate in the discussion if you're bored of it and move on!
ok, i feel better now! and if THIS has been discussed before..TOO BAD...here it is again!!! get over it! hahahahah!!!!

I must agree. I know I am guilty as charged of being a "Catty Queen" at times and even though meaning no harm end up hurting others feelings, so if I was one of those who hurt you I am sorry and I will make every attempt to be kinder and patient with everyone this New Year, After all, You get so much more with Honey and that is surely a Truth.
Welcome and you shall not go ignored.
Happy New Year to You & Yours.

no problem! check your PM's too!
happy holidays theatrediva!
I agree as well. I am fairly new as well and when I joined and made a comment some of the long-time posters made me feel unwelcome. It wasn't until recently when I felt like I had made a few online relationship/friends.
I could never get the search function to work either until I started clicking the 'display results as threads' box (and only typing criteria in one field, either title or message). Now I can get it to work about 90% of the time.
Just throwing that out there in case it helps anyone else...at the very least it makes all those threads about 'the show that shall not be named' come up all organized and stuff. :)
I'm not new and I still think the search function SUCKS. So I just post whatever the hell I want and if people have a problem with it..tough!.. Actually that's a lie..I think I've only started about 6 or 7 threads..but one of them was the famous Greg Jbara Love Thread (parts 1 and 2) what do I win.
In summation..BWW needs a way better search function! Let's make a petition.

You're quite right, Andrew. Welcome and Happy New Year.
The search function sucks, I agree. It gives too many hits when you search. Especially if you are trying to find something involving a very popular topic.
The guys running this site have made so many changes to it over the last couple of years. Today you can find almost anything you want on its pages. Unfortunately, the one thing you can't do is a proper search for anything.
There are so many really good search tools out there, PLEASE Rob, Craig, Jose, whoever..... GET THIS THING FIXED!

Your suggestion will be added to the list. I have to admit that I am less frustrated with using the Search feature than you, but that may be because I've been using it since week one.
I can understand how searching before creating a thread is not always an immediate thought. I don't do myself, however I read the boards frequently so I usually know if a topic has already been covered via a thread.
From the more experienced poster's view when a newer member starts a thread that has already been covered, one is forced to view something that is history. It's akin to reading a book, and suddenly someone jarringly pulls it from your hands and turns the pages back to Chapter One, expecting you to start reading again from the beginning. That can be as maddening as someone yelling "seach!" in response to a thread you've created.
The search feature can be a useful resource, the long-time posters are nice, inquisitive, and almost always willing to help, and the newer posters always welcome to add their experience and perspective on theatre.
