You can't see me, but I"m doing cartwheels of joy!
I'm not a fan of overpriced, giant stadium shows, but I WILL make an exception for this!

The scene here is unbelievable. Reporters have been kicked off the lot for snooping around and hiding in bushes, fans are pretending to be actors and getting into the gates, and there's been a flurry of activity over the last hour.
I just came back from peeing at their building and Stewart was going crazy on the drums. It was rattling walls.

Honestly happy you got such great ones, Tiff!

Aie, that's too bad! Are there any additional dates that will be going on sale soon? I was contemplating getting the fan club membership so I could buy early but I remember a lot of U2 members getting screwed out of the good seats as well.

I was at the opening concert last night and I'm STILL shaking from it. They opened with "Message In A Bottle" and brought down the house! Joe Sumner and Fiction Plane wasn't bad. Picked up a shirt - there weren't any good designs and they were EXPENSIVE ($40-$50) but I'll only be at one Police reunion concert so what can you do? I brought my precious "Synchronicity" vinyl and got it signed afterwards. I'm not normally an autograph person, but this is officially the item I'd grab if my house was on fire!!

TIFF! Yay!
So excited to hear a report and I'm glad you had fun. What other songs did they sing? Do you remember if they included Can't Stand Losing You? Was it Police songs only or did Sting feel the need to play the new crap? They're coming to the Garden again in October...thinking about trying to get tickets to that one, too.
How long did they play for? I think I'll pick up a commemorative t-shirt, too.
You got the album signed? Ooh...they had a meet and greet? Pics? Details!

Thank GOD Sting didn't feel the need to play any new crap - a local paper interviewed Copeland on why they weren't and he acknowledged that for those kinds of prices, the concertgoers want to hear the classics. Which is...well...true.
So yeah, it was only Police songs - people went absolutely crazy over Message In A Bottle and Roxanne. I was surprised at the wide age range - everyone from pre-teens to geriatrics! And yes, they did play "Can't Stand Losing You"!! It was haunting and almost...I can't explain it but the way Sting sang it almost made it seem....primal, if that makes any sense.
Can I just say though - they were all great, but Stewart COMPLETELY stole the show. His percussions were just jaw-dropping. Running from a gong his kit to the xylophone, I mean, he was insane!!

Posted: 5/30/07 at 4:18pmOh, also there wasn't a meet and greet - I did it the old fashioned way - hung out by the exit near the SUVs, behind the barricade. Luckily the other fans there were really friendly and supportive, and they were so touched that I was clinging onto my Synchronicity LP with the intent of getting it signed for my dad (50th birthday present in a week, was the one who sang me to sleep with The Police's repertoire) that they pushed me to the front of the crowd to make sure my album got signed, even though Sting only signed my album and then drove away. Really great people there!

That's great, Tiff.
It's going to be such an '80s flashback summer. I'll be seeing Duran Duran, INXS and The Police.

Apparently, Mr. Copeland wasn't as thrilled as Tiff was about the way it went.
And anyone care to try and explain why he felt the need to use 'petulant pansy' as a term of derision? I was surprised by that.

Copeland's being surprisingly honest. I suffered through one of their mid-80s arena shows and truly, "lame" is the accurate adjective. The dirty little secret is this: The Police were never very good.
And yet in this era of alarmingly high-priced reunion tours, so many people line up to buy tickets like so many lemmings in shiny metal boxes.
They suck, and thanks to Stewart Copeland, it's now officially verified by an insider.

Posted: 6/5/07 at 3:26pmSeeing them this Sunday, June 10th, at the pepsi Center in Denver. They are doing 2 shows (Sat & Sun). I hope they decide to add Secret Journey to their play list! (I LOVE that song!) Will have to record the Tony Awards so I suspect I won't get to sleep until around 1:00 or 2:00am on Monday! But I can't wait for the concert. My bithday is this week and 2 friends are taking me as a gift! We have really good side seats I am told!
