I just want to be LOVED. IS THAT SO WRONG?

She's a lesbian, for goodness' sake--A LESBIAN--and the 'Variety' article doesn't even mention it.
Honestly--it's like normal people don't think homosexuality is wrong these days...
Are you sure she isn't a female in male drag?
Ellen and Liza are lovers?
Who died?
Check the In Memoriam segment. I think Miss Ellie's conversion to Lesbitarianism is causing issues w the prayers.
DAME, where in that Variety article does it say that Liza's concerts are selling out?
I would be surprised if that's true, mind you. The internet's been flooded with articles and blog postings about Liza today--the vast majority of them sticking up for her and praising her bold hair styling choice. While I still think Ellen's joke fell flat and felt mean-spirited, she ended up doing Liza a favor.
BTW, anyone else following Liza's official account on Facebook? They're linking to all the positive press today, but every posting is written in the first person. I find it hard to believe that Liza is managing her Facebook fan page herself and it's just creepy when some assistant pretends to be the voice of the star.
Horse.. look at the second link with the ticketmaster link. Her 3 California concerts are sold out. If it interests you that much you can google her Europe and Latin american gigs and you will find more of the same. Her website is run by one of her gays. They even say so every once in a while.

On the topic of Ellen hosting, here's what NPH thought. So much shade.
"I thought Ellen was great. I was watching the show, anticipating some big opening number, and then she just walked out and told some jokes, and brought everyone down in a casual way. It was lovely." He went on, "That [pizza] bit went on for a while didn't it? I won't lie to you about that. I was like, where you going with the pizza babe?"
Sounds like he's hatin on her high ratings.
Ellen DeGeneres garners best Oscar ratings in a decade

I'm seeing a failure to distinguish between correlation and causality here.
Ellen hosted an Oscar broadcast which achieved very high ratings. Were those very high ratings due to the host?
This was a year widely acknowledged to have had a number of excellent films and widely-acclaimed performances--I don't think that the host deserves all the credit for the ratings.
Oh lighten up. It is definitely due to Ellen. She promoted the hell out of it in her talk show every day since she was announced.

I think it's kind of gross he called her babe.
I guess the record ratings her show scored the next day or her 2.7 new twitter followers have nothing to do with her either.
"I think it's kind of gross he called her babe."
It was yucky.
"I guess the record ratings her show scored the next day or her 2.7 new twitter followers have nothing to do with her either."
Both of those seem--to me--to support my theory. They suggest a substantial number of people tuning in to the Oscars who were NOT previously Ellen fans--suggesting the size of the audience was not, in fact, due to Ellen's presence, but that her performance gained her many new fans/viewers/followers, etc.
I mean no disrespect to Ms. DeGeneres or her excellent hosting techniques. I'm just skeptical that she was responsible for the number of people who tuned in to this year's Oscar broadcast.
Whatever--just my theory.
Yeah.. your theory is f*cked. And I say that with respect.
I get your point, Addison, but it seems to me there's no way to tell. It's just as possible that Ellen's loyal viewers boosted the Oscar's ratings and that her hosting garnered her new viewers and followers.
I'd love to know how many tuned in only after the selfie starting going viral.

If she hosts again next year all the ads will be for mom jeans.

Yes. NPH's reaction was incredibly condescending and it confuses me, because I thought the two were relatively close. He is on her show at least once or twice a year and they always have a good interview.
I could imagine that quote sounding very different than it reads.

I think what we learn from reactions like these are the various emotions expressed by the voices in the heads of some posters.

Do you think he was just being sarcastic, Reg?
Maybe he was just having a bitchy moment? It has happened. I myself have been known to have one on occasion.
