Gold Derby has JLD and Poehler neck and neck but Fey and McCarthy are the only other previous winners/nominees from the year before besides Amy with Zooey Deschanel and Laura Dern in the mix. Laura Linney (never got into the show) as Lena Dunham also have good shots too. Martha Plimpton sadly seems the most likely nominee to not repeat.

Agreed. Plimpton first of all should have petitioned herself for Supporting Actress, but Cloris Leachman is more likely to get the nod in that particular category. So it ain't looking good for Plimpton this year. Not a strong enough performance I'm afraid.
I actually think she and the show (though the last two episodes featured an unnecessary plot point unneeded by the show) were better than the season before but Emmys do like to acknowledge the new faces, particularly the ones in movies like Deschanel and Dern.

Zooey Deschenal will be nominated for lead actress in a comedy and her brilliant co-star Max Greenfield will definitely be nominated for supporting actor in a comedy for his breakout performance.
I would love to see Madeleine Stowe walk away with an Emmy, same with Christina Hendricks. Plus, will it finally be Jon Hamm's year? I'd also love to see Ginnifer Goodwin and Christian Borle nominated.
Also, SMASH will walk away with Best Original Song.
As for comedies, my DREAM nomination would be Naya Rivera for supporting actress - this was her year on GLEE. Plus, I'd love to see recognition for HAPPY ENDINGS (Casey Wilson!), GIRLS, and COMMUNITY.
As for reality shows, I'm down to see DANCE MOMS, REAL HOUSEWIVES OF BEVERLY HILLS, and variety/comedy nominations for KATHY and CHELSEA LATELY.

Do you think Desperate Housewives will get any Emmy love this year because of its last season? Maybe Felicity Huffman or Marcia Cross, or the beloved Kathryn Joosten (RIP) all of whom did wonderful work in the mediocre final season.
With regard to Smash, I predict Christian Borle will be nominated for Supporting Actor, Debra Messing is in with a chance for a Lead Actress nomination, and possibly Megan Hilty for Supporting Actress.
I read somewhere that the writers of Smash could only nominate one song per writing team, so Let Me Be Your Star is the representative song. I think the horrible song Katherine Macphee sang while writing around on a bed in a white sheet is up also because it was written by another team.
Borle and Messing should both get nominations. Say what you want about the writing in the series, both of them are great. I think Jack Davenport should got a nom also, but I doubt that will happen.
Will Patty "You're a slut if you use birth control" Heaton earn a nomination?

I hope Smash gets nominated for Borle and Messing as well as some Revenge love.
