Posted: 6/19/12 at 7:12pmSo who thinks who will be nominated for Emmys this year? Will we see the same faces from 2011 and 2010, or will some brand new names appear on the nomination lists? What about 'The Middle' - I think Patricia Heaton and Eden Sher deserve Emmy nods for Lead Actress and Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for sure.... Will Ed O'Neill and Sofia Vergara win the Supporting Actor & Actress Comedy Emmys this year? - Thoughts?

Community did take the Critics Choice honor but there are a few freshman shows, like Girls or Veep, that may take those categories. Plus the Emmy voters have inexplicably been in the Chuck Lorre tank and that will probably continue.
No offence to Modern Family fans but if they sweep the categories again after this year in Comedies it will be pretty disappointing.
I think Breaking Bad should take Drama series over Mad Men but Downton Abbey is now eligible for Drama series which could be a dark horse andbalsomthe acting categories. I will be angry if Dame Maggie Smith takes the Supporting Actressvcategory over Christina Hendricks who ideally clinched the long-awaited acting Emmy for Mad Men with "The Other Woman" episode.
I think it is another Hamm-Cranston death match for leading but Giancarlo Esposito take Supporting Actor. Danes wins leading.
Louis CK or Parsons in Leading Comedy. JLD or Poehler but I hope Dunham is nominated rather than Zooey Deschanel. Modern Family will take supporting categories but I hope Danny Pudi, Jim Rash or Nick Offerman can sneak into the nominations rather than Jon Cryer or NPH. Ditto for Gillian Jacobs.

"Julia Louis-Dreyfus for Lead Actress in a Comedy winner."
I've been a fan of her's for a long time, but I would really like to see Amy Poehler win.
"Will Ed O'Neill and Sofia Vergara win the Supporting Actor & Actress Comedy Emmys this year?"
It would be great if that did happen. I'm also hoping to see Nick Offerman win (and at leat get a nomination) and it would be great if Aubrey Plaza was recognized.

I second the Nick Offerman love!
Adam Driver and Zosia Mamet are outstanding in Girls. I think they deserve nominations.

Give Adam Driver three or four. He's the only reason I've stuck with "Girls," and he just gets better with every episode.

Posted: 6/20/12 at 9:35amI honestly don't think Jim Parsons will be beaten this year once again. I think he may walk away with his third consecutive Emmy for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. He simply can't be bettered. No matter who's nominated. Hell, he beat Alec Baldwin and Steve Carrell last year. He's absolute perfection comedically in The Big Bang Theory.

Zosia and Adam are definitely the stand-outs on Girls.
I think Dinklage has Best Supporting - Drama in the bag again.
The show seems like it's been off-air for a long time, but I think that American Horror Story is still eligible. So, I hope Jessica Lange gets a nomination.

Posted: 6/20/12 at 12:16pmI really hope Amy Poehler as well as Parks and Recreation get some awards. I've been a huge fan from the beginning and it's my favorite comedy on TV. I even have the companion book. Brilliant all the way around.

Posted: 6/20/12 at 12:30pmModern Family should win best comedy series again because it remains far and away the funniest show on television.

Will the Emmys recognize Once Upon A Time? How will Downton Abbey do as a drama series?
And nothing comes close to the week in, week out brilliance of Modern Family. It deserves all the accolades it gets.

Totally agree about Modern Family - it deserves everything it gets.
What about Homeland for best drama? I just started watching it (saw the first two episodes) and am totally hooked. I've heard the season is outstanding.
On the outside chance, what about Don Cheadle for lead actor for House of Lies?

Huh. Kind of surprised at the Modern Family love. I mean, I like it, but even the slightly off seasons for Community and Parks and Rec had much higher highs. I think this season of Modern Family lost me a bit when I realized I was watching an episode in which:
1. All 3 Dunphy women got their periods simultaneously and therefore turned into harridans
2. Gloria was offended Jay didn't punch a man on her behalf because that's what manly men do
3. Jay wore a pink robe of emasculation and flinched at hot soup, because not punching people makes you a weak woman, oh noes
Like I said, I enjoy Modern Family, but its retrograde bones show way too often. And it certainly doesn't deserve to take every single comedy award just because it has a big ensemble. That said, I'm sure it will, because once the Emmys lock onto a show, they never, ever let go.

Joel Kinnaman needs a nomination for his part in The Killing. Holder is the main reason I watch this show, and this was such a powerful season for him.
Send in the episode of your bridge-walking depression, Joel, and you'll get that nomination, buddy.

I would love a win for Poehler too, but I think Laura Linney wins the prize for Lead Actress in a Comedy this year I'm afraid. Jim Parsons was nominated once before he actually won the award. Everyone thought Linney had it in the bag last year, but alas, Melissa McCarthy was crowned Lead Actress in a Comedy (more for Bridesmaids than Mike & Molly, though...) This year is Linney's year, I can feel it. Poehler will have to wait.
I think it will be:
Lead Actor Comedy - Jim Parsons (3rd consecutive award)
Lead Actress Comedy - Laura Linney
Supporting Actor Comedy - Ty Burrell (yes, again!) (Should be Ed O'Neill)
Supporting Actress Comedy - Sofia Vergara

But Julia has been nominated for so many Emmys over the past few years, and has always been beaten by the likes of Tina Fey, Toni Collette, etc.
Does she have a shot this year at winning?

I know it puts me on the outs here, but I just don't get Parks and Rec. I've tried it several times, and it just isn't my type of humor.
On the other hand, I love Community and Modern Family, so I guess I'm not completely out of the loop.
We watched Veep - JLD was good in it, but I don't know that it was Emmy-worthy. Nominated, sure, but winning? I don't know.
