You need to put things in their historical perspective. At that time, what he did was considered wrong. But when we saw how trashy the Clintons were, Nixon's behavior seems very minor.

When I saw a trailer for this movie, I thought it was a comedy. Imagine my horror when it dawned on me that it was serious! I have always suspected Ben Stine a fool, now I have no doubts.

Compared to what Bush has done, Nixon's antics were Jr. High school.
Nixon was a victim of his own paranoia. Clinton's crap, it was only grade school, and only got him in trouble because he lied about sex.
Bush, he has written the book on how to abuse power while in office. Compared to Bush, Nixon does not look that bad.

OK, Bush is off the wagon, drinking again, suffers from a mental impairment (which explains why his speech has continually suffered since taking office, his slurring is more pronounced), went AWOL from the military, is a coke head and illegal drug user, belongs to a sinister secret society, and thinks he talks to God (which would get many people institutionalized).
Oh, and his wife killed a kid by her reckless driving.
And, that is just the stuff many people believe to be true - do you want me to go into the baseless allegations?

Nixon was an odd but intelligent man who--like Bush--brought far too much personal baggage into the White House. Funny, if he was elected to the GOP today, he probably would be considered too liberal. Chew on that one.
And America punished Nixon for his infractions...he lived the rest of his life in a considerable amount of crushing shame. Bush will not face the same fate. We have America's apathy to thank for that.

The pardons, I don't like, but that is not a scandal. Just wait until Bush is about to leave, and you will see the pardon pen flow like never before.

You can't drop 40+ years of bad energy plan at Bush's feet. Why didn't Clinton do something about it? At least we don't have gas rationing like we did during the Carter years. Bush may not have done all he could, but this problem can't be fixed in one POTUS term.
