Inspired by the 90s pop thread, in a little over a week I'm hosting a weekend retreat-like event for a group I'm involved with. We're a collegiate service organization and our main project this year is PLAY (Promoting Literacy Among Youth) so I thought a good theme would be PLAYground and to make it like when we were in elementary school.

We're going to have a little competition of playground games like Four Square and I thought the teams could be based on cartoon shows/characters from the same time period. We've thought of things like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Captain Planet, Darkwing Duck, Thundercats for some of the older kids, stuff like that.

What other shows do you remember being popular? We need a good list so we can pick teams from there. Anything that could make for a good team name for boys and girls and that we could maybe find good stuff on Google Images so we can decorate team shirts or posters for their section of the lodge would be great.

Thanks so much for any input!

Some good ones were already mentioned. Also...

Muppet Babies, Care Bears, Maple Town, Adventures of the Little Koala, David the Gnome, Mya the Bee, My Little Pony Tales, Gummi Bears, Wuzzles, Rainbow Brite (that might have been 80s and I watched it in syndication), Alvin and the Chipmunks, Heathcliff and Inspector Gadget.

I watched way too much TV when I was younger...

How could I have forgotten Heathcliffe and Inspector Gadget? I loved those.

Was Jem in the '90s or the '80s?

She was truly outrageous!

I know that He-Man and She-Ra were on in the late 80's, but they might have been on in the early 90's.

You know, when I was talking to my club the Care Bears were mentioned, so I turned to some of the guys and asked if they'd really want to be on team Care Bear thinking that they'd say it was too girly...the were definitely all about it!

Does anyone remember if Fraggle Rock was 80s or 90s? Because that was a pretty awesome show, as I remember.

I'm gonna use this thread as an opportunity to ask something that his really been bugging me.

Does anyone remember the cartoon where there was this one character that had a huge cone-like head that he would prop on a stick with wheels at the botton and he wheel it around with himself whenever he walked?

For whatever reason that visual just popped into my head the other day and I asked my friend about it and she knew exactly what I was talking about but neither of us knew what it was from.
Someone tell me before I go nuts!

Don't know, Funny Face. But I love your avatar!

Fraggle Rock ran from 1983-1988, I believe...but I remember watching it, which means it must have been on in the 90s. Re-runs, I'm guessing. I love it!

Oh gosh! The Wuzzles! I used to be obsessed with them in the 80's. Wow. What great memories.

What about G.I. Joe? Or was that 80's, and I watched it in syndication?

Are we talking Fraggle Rock cartoon or real Fraggle Rock? Real Fraggle Rock was mid-80s. We watched it an many other shows in sydnication. But soo much better than the animinated show. If you use that, it's gotta be the real one.

How could I forget Captain Planet?!

Nice avatar, Adam.

Two times the fun wrapped up and rolled...into one!

I think I was thinking of the real Fraggle Rock...because it was puppets, not animated.

The syndication thing is making it hard. I know one of our members really wants us to use Thundercats so she could be on the team, but that seems a little too old. Eh, I don't know.

But seriously, you guys are coming up with GREAT shows! I really appreciate it.
