Tomorrow is Debbie Reynolds Day on TCM. They are featuring some of her earliest works which happen to feature Bob Fosse, Bobby Van (yes, the same as the restaurant), and Marge and Gower Champion. These are really fun movies, allbeit pretty flimsy fluff, but they are more notable for being early film appearances of Fosse, the Champions and Van. V and F have some highlights in Affairs of Dobie Gillis with Debbie Reynolds having excellent dances too. Give A Girl A Break features the Champions and Fosse dancing together in a few numbers. Bobby Van was really a great, if underrated dancer, too. If you ever come across Small Town Girl, that's the movie he does the hopping dance in, that Hugh Jackman did for the Tonys entrance when he hosted. It's great to see these young enthusiastic dancer/choreographers, somewhat knowing where their futures were headed. Get the popcorn!
