I thought The Skeleton Key was bad...but not THAT bad.
"THE INTERPRETER
CINDERELLA MAN
SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS
JARHEAD
MUNICH
The absolute worst: ME AND YOU AND EVERYONE WE KNOW "
Are you kidding me? Jesus.

The plot (based on "Vengence" which has been discredited and considered extremely histroically incorrect), the acting, the direction, the cinematograpy ALL SUCKED. Not to mention it looked like it went through 2 weeks of post production (which I later found out was 3 weeks that is, not months, so it could make awards season, too bad cos it's getting nothing after the globe noms). Speilberg should really hang his head in shame especially for using Kushner for the final draft of the script who has a very biased opinion of the Israeli-Palestian situation.

Posted: 1/15/06 at 2:31amOMG How could you say that Jarhead was one of the worst of 2005???? I thought that everything about that film was impressive. Jake Gyllenhals performance amazed me as did the rest of the cast...there was not a weak member...now, i understand that it may not be your cup of tea but at least acknowledge that its a well made incredibly acted film!!

Posted: 1/15/06 at 10:12amWell, I actually saw 4 of the films on their list and am surprised by some of the choices but I mostly agree with them. I don't know about Bewitched. Granted, it wasn't the overall best movie but it was definitely funny. I liked it!

I say the Skeleton Key was THAT bad because it is supposed to be a horror movie . . . the trailer made it look really freaky . . . when I watched it I didn't get scared or even un-nerved one time and the ending just sucked the big one (I am so tired of twist endings in horror movies. Why can't their be a killer and that is that?). Granted, I though Kate was great in it and she was the only thing worth praising in the movie.
And with BEWITCHED . . . I turned it off after the first 30 minutes and returned it to Blockbuster. I didn't laugh one time.

I think the movie was a victim of flase advertising, like The Village. I thought it was a really interesting, stylish thriller. The twist was great, I thought, because it gave the entire movie an added depth. Every scene that came before it now played differently in retrospect.
Why can't their be a killer and that is that?
What fun would that be?
Granted, I though Kate was great in it and she was the only thing worth praising in the movie.
What about Gena Rowlands? She could have gone over the top, but was nicely restrained and creepy.

Posted: 1/15/06 at 1:27pmMUNICH and JARHEAD my have not lived up to the expectations of some - JARHEAD certainly didn't for me - but to name them among the worst films of 2005 is just bizzare and, in my opinion (which of course is always right,) wrong.

Posted: 1/15/06 at 1:31pmAgreed, munk. Has anyone seen Kingdom of Heave? I love Ridley Scott but, other than Edward Norton's excellent performance, this movie is painful.

Well, there is no way that "The Bad News Bears" would have made their list because they both gave it thumbs up when they reviewed it.

I chose films that should have been better, but that I found awful. Both JARHEAD and MUNICH fit that criterion. It's easy to list something like Deuce Bigalow or Dukes of Hazzard. Who really expected them to be good?
