It will be interesting to see how these next two years play out. I have a feeling it will be absolute gridlock, which I think will help Obama if he gets the messaging right.

Then again, with the amount of money that will be spent in the next two years, who knows if people will be able to hear anything other than ads.

The GOP tactically played their minority status just about perfect these past 2 years, and the Dems did nothing to change the message it the echo chamber.

Who knows, maybe there will be a good idea or two among the craziness that we have seen from the Tea Party. 2012 will depend on whether a viable GOP candidate emerges. Palin is Obama's wet dream.

We live in interesting times.

It saddens me that until we have some federal protection, these state level leaders decide our fate. My friends in Illinios are expecting a baby. They married and work across the state line in Iowa. They still haven't called Illinois' new governor yet, but there's a good chance it's a very right wing guy who has said he will vote against gay adoption and equality.

Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!

The courts are going to be under increased pressure to back off. I know that's not a savory thought, but that's the reality.

The only thing I'm certain of is, for at least the next two years, gay issues are toast. I think we'll be lucky if we're just ignored. But, it's the issue they feel safest in condemning - and frankly, I haven't seen where anyone or anything is going to counteract that feeling.

The number one priority seems to be an out-and-out attack on health care reform.

As to Palin's cred, I'm also seeing some talk that she essentially cost them the Senate by backing O'Donnell and Angle. If the 'regular' Repubs had run in Delaware and Nevada, they would have won, so some people think. Overall, though, Palin is getting quite a boost out of all this. Ugh.

There are some bright spots. In California voters decided a zombie was better than a Republican.

I wonder who they will call the governor's race for in Illinois. It's really interesting looking at the maps on sites like the NY Times and Washington Post...almost the whole state minus 1 or 2 districts voted red, including my home suburban district. Right now Quinn (D) is listed as being slightly in the lead, but who knows what will happen if there is a recall/recount. I did think it was funny that one of my friends who works in the D.C. office of a representative from Wisconsin posted on Facebook this morning saying "Yay, I still have a job!" lol

"Tea party favorite Michele Bachmann of Minnesota is throwing her hat into the ring for Republican Conference chairwoman, adding yet another candidate to what is already shaping up to be a free-for-all race for the No. 3 spot in the House Republican hierarchy."

She's also said to be non-committal to Boehner as speaker.

Once the dust settles, the GOP leadership is going to have to address the question: "Did Sarah Palin cost us the Senate?". If you replace Buck, O'Donnell, and Angle with virtually any other Republicans, you win at least two, probably all three races. Obviously, the GOP has much to celebrate about last night, but they'll also be asking 'What if?'.

Buck is trailing by only about 7500 votes in Colorado with 88% of precincts reporting. It's certainly tight. Washington has yet to declare a winner as well.

Both Colorado and Washington could go to recounts, and potentially, to the courts. Also, even though they're both Republicans, the outcome of the Alaska race could be entertaining. The write-ins lead, but they have to be verified as being for Murkowski. That requires discerning voter intent, which is subjective. Also, the Tea Party tried to muddy the waters by have about 100 or so write-in candidates submitted at the last minute, some with names very close to Murkowski's.

Although I'm not too happy about losing the House, as a Las Vegan I am thrilled. It's crazy that Harry Reid started this pre-election with the lowest polling numbers we've seen in years and yet went on to beat this crazy lady that really spoke to people. Harry Reid hadn't even given his speech yet and the reporters here were already saying that Angle will likely run for a variety of things next - so I doubt we've seen the last of her. Still, for the time being I am taking small victories where I can get them.

The Denver Post has called it for Bennet. His lead is enough that a re-count wouldn't be necessary under Colorado law. According to the Post's article, there are still some 30,000 votes that still need to be counted in Boulder county (a strongly liberal area), as well as some absentee ballots from counties that were polling in Bennet's favor.

What's the logical designation of a 50.1 to 49.9 split?

Overwhelming majority.
