Schumer, Gillibrand, and Cuomo were instantly projected winners once polls closed.
MSNBC is projecting the House going Republican. The real drama has yet to come.

The Fourth Reich has taken the House, which means that nothing will be accomplished for the next two years. We can kiss repeal of DADT goodbye, and forget about DOMA being repealed for the foreseeable future.
Christmas will be cancelled, all birthdays are put on hold, and no more fun of any kind will be permitted.
If you want an image of the next two years, imagine a boot stamping on a human face.

Of course, none of it was accomplished during the last two years, either, so I guess that means the Ds and Rs are pretty much the same.

Posted: 11/2/10 at 11:17pmI dread having to listen to Jon Boehner. I loathe him and his annoying voice.

Posted: 11/2/10 at 11:33pmI don't see where any of it makes that much difference. The Dems still control 2/3. The only good (great) thing is bye bye Nancy Pelosi.

Posted: 11/3/10 at 1:55amClose to midnight and we are biting our nails ver the Bennett vs Buck race here in Colorado. We do have a new Governor. A Democrat but the Republicans re-claimed control of the House here.

Iowa got rid of their 'activist' judges.

Posted: 11/3/10 at 6:37amLet's look on the bright side: if not for loons like Sharron Angle and Christine O'Donnell, the GOP would also have taken the Senate. And now, the GOP will have to do something other than obstruct. I can't wait to hear where they're going to cut trillions of discretionary spending to pay for the renewal of the Bush tax cuts.

Posted: 11/3/10 at 7:07amTennessee elected a governor that is pro-life, supports traditional marriage only and believes that someone who holds a gun permit should be allowed to walk into an establishment that serves alcohol with their guns on them. My parents want me to move back home so much that they can't stand it, but my dad would vote for this dude? Unbelievable.

Posted: 11/3/10 at 7:33amSarah Palin wasn't even running yet all the news stations are saying what a big night it has been for her- PAHLEEZE! They are giving her way too much credit-as usual. I was switching channels last night and I came across Greta on Fox- she was practically drooling over Sarah!

Posted: 11/3/10 at 8:07amIs it fair to say it was not as big of a victory as predicted for the Republicans? They expected to win just about every seat.John Boehner hates to work. He is always on the golf course. So,now he will actually have to do something and do better than the Democrats. We still have the senate, something they predicted they would take as well. Obama can and will veto everything they throw his way. Some of the Republicans I know (and family) are not as happy as I thought they would be. Having 'just the house' is not enough. They expected everything. Not as many Tea Baggers got in as expected and now I am hearing that the ones who lost must mean the Democrats cheated somehow. Look out for the conspiracy statements coming from the Tea Party on how the liberals cheated and stole the Senate and so on.

Hey Sarah...how's that O'Donnell, Angle, Miller thing workin' for ya?
I take a small bit of relief in the fact that those three lost.
Strummergirl...even my partner, a pretty much party line Republican...couldn't vote for Paladino. The man is a raging loon. Didn't hear the speech, but I saw him swinging the baseball bat on TV.

Posted: 11/3/10 at 8:20amThe state & local wins that SOMMS alludes to will be very important on a national level, since they will have an impact on congressional redistricting.

"And now, the GOP will have to do something other than obstruct."
They're going to move from Obstruction to Destruction. Destroying every one of the little bits of progress that Obama managed to sneak in over the last couple of years.
Under other circumstances I'd be thinking that we'd get a chance to see what Obama's made of now, if he's got the balls to stand up to these idiots. Alas, we've already seen what Barry's made of: hot air, fake promises, and open collaboration with the Fourth Reich.

Posted: 11/3/10 at 9:37amIt's definitely time for Obama to put on his big boy pants and be the leader we elected him to be. He no longer has Nancy Pelosi to do all the heavy lifting. Let's keep in mind, however, that Bill Clinton came out of the 1994 midterms just fine, and Obama has accomplished more in his first two years than Clinton did.
