Oh I've thought of it. It's what makes me not wanna celebrate until this actually happens. IF it actually happens.
The more we publicize the election trends, the more of a revolution we will have if Diebold steals it anyway.
The more we publicize the trends the bigger the victory must be.
October 19
Projected New Senate: 50 Democrats 49 Republicans 1 tie
Projected New House: 229 Democrats 202 Republicans 4 Ties
a self-fulfilling prophecy, eh, pj? since the polls say it it must be so? polls have never ever been wrong, so if they are now, it's proof of voter fraud? way to set up the whining we'll have to listen to if your party f*cks up this one. nope, could have nothing to do with gop gotv efforts or the fact that 3 weeks out we've got a 2:1 cash advantage. nope, it's gotta be prior evidence of the voter fraud to come. the fact that you've started the fraud chant so early gives me hope that the democrats will manage to blow this. thanks for cheering my up!
So the only thing the Republicans have going for them is money?
A "2:1 cash advantage"...how sad.
Once the GOP ran on "making the world safe"--but you f*cked that up.
Once the GOP ran on "values"--but you f*cked that up.
Once the GOP ran on "standing up for America"--but you trampled on the Constitution.
Now all you've got is a "2:1 cash advantage."
More proof of the moral bankruptcy of the Republican Party.
I agree--sad that you can't win because of what was accomplished in the last two years, papa. Sadder that any intelligent person would be content with that.
And your dismissal of voter fraud is an ever weakening charge as the rest of the country has been voicing doubts about their confidence of electronic voting machines more and more. Let's do remember that the exit polls were only off in the Diebold run swing states. Let's do remember that those machines can easily be tampered with.
Ultimately, your party either won fair and square or got away with it "fair and square". All I ask is that the elections be fair and square.
If SOMEHOW Americans stupidly keep Congress GOP-run, then congrats. But I pray that the horrible job your party has done is not rewarded by two more years. And, I pray that if SOMEHOW given that reward, your party gets it's muthaf***ing act together and does right by its people.
let's look at some of these races that are supposedly going to the democrats (based on the majority watch which uses mostly the rt strategies #'s):
az-08: voted 60-36 republican in the house race in 2004 and 53-46 for bush
fl-13: voted 55-45 republican in the house race in 2004 and 56-43 for bush
oh-15: voted 60-40 republican in the house race in 2004 and 50-50 for president (which suggests that national elections bring out more democrats than the mid-terms, turnout's key. if the gop turns out we win.)
oh-18: voted 66-34 republican in the house race in 2004 and 57-43 for bush
nc-08: voted 66-34 republican in the house race in 2004 and 54-46 for bush
ny-20: voted 60-36 republican in the house race in 2004 and 53-46 for bush
ny-24: voted 57-34 republican in the house race in 2004 and 53-47 for bush
ny-29: voted 51-41 republican in the house race in 2004 (with scandals galore in that campaign) and 56-42 for bush
pa-10: incumbent ran unopposed in 2004 and bush carried district 60-40
wi-08: voted 70-30 republican in the house race in 2004, and 55-44 for bush
this is based on majority watch which is predicting a democratic majority of 218 222. if even half of these districts vote as they have in the past, that knocks the dem # down to 213 217 and hands the majority back to the gop. of course voters would never do something like vote the way they always have. not when there's been a tectonic shift in politics, right?
oh and pj, you really are scared, aren't you? wow, i was just kidding, but hmmmm...
*updated* note the deleted #'s which had to be updated after i realized i read it wrong, but it still doesn't change the outcome.
majority watch
2004? who's talking about 2004.
Wake up, man! It's 2006--this election is about Bush, Iraq and Republican lack of morals.
yeah, you keep on with that, pj, and we'll keep up the gotv ground work and see who's gloating on the 8th and who's wailing about fraud and conspiracies while popping xanax like they're candy.
NEWS FLASH: politicians don't wear jerseys and helmets!!!!
Thank you.
this isn't about jerseys and helmets for me jrb. i am deeply concerned about the viability, safety and future of an america under democrat control. at least for the next 6 or so years.
I don't do Xanax, but Republicans all over are realizing you're going to need something considerably stronger than Xanax when you wake up on Wednesday the 8th.
Like maybe a morphine suppository.

Republican officials now concede they could lose a net of 23 to 27 seats in the House, that higher figure being close to twice the 15 Democrats would need to take control. Democrats would need six seats to take control of the Senate, and Republican officials tell TIME they see several scenarios for warding that off. One Republican strategist close to the White House gave this forecast: "We're going to lose Pennsylvania, Ohio and Rhode Island. That's three. Virginia, I think we hold. Tennessee, I think we hold. I'm less certain we're going to hold Missouri and I'm least certain we hold Montana. But to take control, Democrats have to win three of those four, and that's unlikely." If Democrats picked up five, the chamber would be 50-50, guaranteeing frequent appearances by Vice President Cheney as President of the Senate.
TIME: The Allen Report
the louder you scream and the more you cut and paste the better i feel about our chances.
Well I am terrified that this country can't take anymore of your party running things. So there.
Here's what your Republican 2:1 cash advantage is paying for: racist ads that call black women HO's and try to scare African-Americans men into voting Republican (HA!):
A REAL REPUBLICAN RADIO AD:
"If you make a little mistake with one of your ‘hos,' you'll want to dispose of that problem tout suite, no questions asked," one of the men says.
"That's too cold. I don't snuff my own seed," the other replies.
"Maybe you do have a reason to vote Republican," the first man says.
"Black babies are terminated at triple the rate of white babies," a female announcer in one of the ads says, as rain, thunder, and a crying infant are heard in the background. "The Democratic Party supports these abortion laws that are decimating our people, but the individual's right to life is protected in the Republican platform. Democrats say they want our vote. Why don't they want our lives?"
kinda like steny hoyer calling michael steele a slave. horrible stuff, really.
there's nothing like watching papa try to defend the actions of the current Racist, fiscally irresponsible, big government loving bigots in power.
see, that's where people get me wrong. i very rarely defend anybody. occasionally i do point out hypocrisy (even acknowledging it often). in this thread, i'm merely pointing out reasons why the conventional wisdom (that the democrats will wipe the floor with the gop and leave them gasping for breath down 15-20 seats in the house) might be slightly flawed.
no papa, you're gloating.
there's a difference.
you understand the definition of gloating right?
gloat (glt)
gloat·ed, gloat·ing, gloats
To feel or express great, often malicious, pleasure or self-satisfaction: Don't gloat over your rival's misfortune.
gloat (glt) Pronunciation Key
intr.v. gloat·ed, gloat·ing, gloats
To feel or express great, often malicious, pleasure or self-satisfaction: Don't gloat over your rival's misfortune.
I believe the question is, do you?
thanks, marc.
so how on earth do you, linguistically limited liverpudlian, define my pointing out that the gop might hold onto the house as gloating?
"yeah, you keep on with that, pj, and we'll keep up the gotv ground work and see who's gloating on the 8th and who's wailing about fraud and conspiracies while popping xanax like they're candy."
there's a for instance
"nope, it's gotta be prior evidence of the voter fraud to come. the fact that you've started the fraud chant so early gives me hope that the democrats will manage to blow this. thanks for cheering my up!"
there's another
