Well seeing how things have improved dramatically in America for gays, I would love to know what you guys feel HAS been responsible for that progress.

What exactly did Will and Grace achieve? I fail to see its significance in the long run.
that haircare & personal grooming products can be marketed to gay men.

Improved for whom??
I doubt a second-rate sitcom is responsible for any positive growth for gay men and women.

As could you! This is not a "Will and Grace" thread. Is that too hard for you to figure out? The title is pretty clear.
PLEASE GIVE LA LIZ THE RESPECT SHE DESERVES. Don't hijack her thread. She deserves a thread of her own.

As usual, fflagg is talking out of his ass. Elizabeth Taylor has done a hell of Goddamn lot for people with Aids. A whole hell of a lot more than most.

Will & Grace could have been more thruthful in it's depiction of gay men. When Will finally got serious with a man, the show had already declined in quality and the impact was far less then had it dealt with the subject at the start of the series.
and threadjacking is great. you don't like it? Don't do it.

who?
edit:
"Well seeing how things have improved dramatically in America for gays, I would love to know what you guys feel HAS been responsible for that progress."
well for one thing, anti-homosexual sentiment at the ballot was a key factor in securing Bush a second term. And some gay guy on TV who goes out on "dates" but always comes home to his woman, didn't do much to change that. I think some gays filled in a lot of the gaps on W&G.

I just finished watching the rebroadcast and I found her to be in great shape, both physically, but mentally; so sharp and focused. On her deathbed? Not even close. The thing I noticed that was missing was her mischievous sparkle, her laughter, and joy. Her passion came through as she spoke of AIDS and her friendships with Rock Hudson and Michael Jackson, but she just didn’t have that spark. Of course, she WAS talking to Larry King, who knows a good follow up question as much as that lady at the Corner, but you could tell she really would rather be anywhere else. For example, when Larry asked her about Butterfield 8, “You didn’t want to make that movie, did you?” She said, “No. But I like the Oscar!” Why didn’t he pursue that line and get some insight into why she did it, why she doesn’t like it, etc. He drives me crazy. And who screens the calls to that show? I am sure the lines were lit up with people waiting to ask the questions Larry was too stupid to ask and the two that get through were “Who inspired you?” (All right, not a terrible question) and some bumbling woman who took forever to get out “What is your favorite movie of yours?” How did these people get on the air?
But I was really moved by Cathy Ireland’s call praising Liz for all her AIDS work. Sometimes it is hard to remember just how instrumental she was and the risk she took to come forward and do the right thing.
What an incredible life.

That was the scariest thing I've ever seen.
"My eyes are red. Aren't they?"
"No, they're purple."
I felt sorry for Larry.
