I have always loved Emma Thompson as an actress. I think she is one of the most brilliant talents out there.

Recently I've started watching the sketch show Alfresco from the 1980s and I'm just blown away by how many different and believable characters she can create.

There is truly none like her.

I love her. I had a mad crush on her in high school. I am rather baffled by a few of her role choices, though. Junior? Beautiful Creatures? Really?

I cannot even remember why exactly, but just within the past week or so I was thinking how freaking cool Emma Thompson is. For real.

Cameos in Harry Potter movies and voiceovers aren't enough. I wish she was in more films.

I'm looking forward to seeing her play P.L. Travers later this year, though.

Thompson was robbed of an Oscar nomination for her role in Love Actually. She got a BAFTA nod, but richly deserved a Globe and Oscar nods for the performance. Heartbreaking and hilarious all in one.

She definitely has a comedic background from her hanging around Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie.

Everyone has a line or two on their CV that doesn't seem to make sense. I mean, Jeremy Irons and Viola Davis are in Beautiful Creatures too, after all!

Thompson is probably my favorite working actress. I'd love to see her on stage in anything.

Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Beautiful Creatures had potential, but good LORD, the accents!

So, what's your absolutely favorite Emma Thompson film?

"So, what's your absolutely favorite Emma Thompson film?"

Remains of the Day

followed very closely by Love, Actually

In both movies, she nails vulnerability like very few have ever done.

And she's a great writer too...winning an Oscar for adapting Sense and Sensibility.

My favorite role of hers was actually Emily, the nurse, in Angles in America. It was such a change from what I had ever seen her in.

I think her career will pick up as she starts to take roles that Judi Dench and Susan Saradon might have played.

Howard's End is my favorite performance and Sense and Sensibility is my favorite overall film.

"hanging around" Fry & Laurie?

She introduced them to each other and she dated Laurie for a while- a tich more than hanging around!

Her performance in "Wit" was heartbreaking. That scene with Audra McDonald and Emma eating the ice lollies get's me every time.
