Roscoe - I honestly have no idea. But I do know that I wouldn't be willing to espouse such theories without some sort of backing.
Carry on. But the disregard for the simple fact of death is reflective.
dg, bww means never having to support your theories.
Let's keep in mind that there are people to this day who don't believe the Holocaust happened, that evolution is nonsense and that no way would the US use black men for guinea pigs in 1932.
Just because you can't prove it doesn't mean it's not true.
I personally think he just died, but I may be wrong--god knows I have been before and will be again.
which of those can't be proven?
I didn't say you couldn't prove them, papa, I said people don't (and didn't) believe them. You can't prove God exists either, but that doesn't stop people from believing.
EDIT: And just for the record:

and you can't prove that al gore doesn't draw his strength from using a hatchet to break open the heads of baby seals and suck their brains out with a straw while using hypodermic needles concealed in his fingers to ingest the spinal fluid of terminally ill toddlers. but it's probably a safe guess that he doesn't.
You're right I can't. Good point. I think that says alot more about you than it does about Al though.
hey, i'm not the one sacrificing baby seals. cute innocent helpless fuzzy little baby seals.

I thought that had been essentially agreed upon by everyone to be fact? I didn't realize that was in dispute.
Papa - I heard that was Cheney not Gore . . .
The sad thing is we now have proof that George Bush authorized the declassification of sensitive information solely for political gain that ultimately resulted in the outing of a covert CIA agent. Yet, and approximately 35% of America still supports him.
People will believe just about anything if it conforms to what they want to hear.
nope, ywiw, it's gore...literally.
Must be Lesley Gore than. She did have some crazy parties after all.
Cheney probably just pays someone else to do his dirty work.
EDIT - Lesley - not Leslie - DOH!

"And papa, I am just going to call you Al."
I assume you mean Lewis - as in Grandpa Munster.
Nah, I think I am just going to start calling papa Al Franken just because it amuses me.

would it be inappropriate to do a jig on Ken's grave?

Well, I never said that I really think that Lay isn't dead. If you read my first post, I said that I was only half kidding. In my second post I asked if anyone would doubt that the people in question are capable of pulling off a scam of such magnitude. Again, does anyone really think that the folks who managed the Enron Scam AND the Weapons Of Mass Destruction Scam (to say nothing of the Election 2000 Scam) would stop at putting some anonymous homeless guy in a box instead of Ken Lay? Does it really seem quite so outrageous? I'm not saying it happened, but that I'm finding it a not implausible scenario.
And whose word am I supposed to take seriously about this? The same media that didn't find out about Dick Cheney shooting some guy in the face for a full day?
By the way, I didn't say I believed those theories. I just like to promulgate 'em. ;-}
Poisonally, I think that G-d smote Ken Lay, because I know for a fact She has never liked people who rob other people's 401K's, and She can be a mean G-d when She's mad.
DG--I believe as much as you do in the sanctity of death, but I think this is a perfectly legitimate forum in which to air these kind of attitudes. I believe your judgment would only be warranted if the posters who think he was a piece of sh*t were protesting at the funeral in front of the mourners, a la Reverand Fresia Phelps. But to be irreverent on the off-topic board of a Broadway Chat Board is perfectly fine.

PJ - I'll agree that they are different things - and the forum does affect the acceptability quotient.
In the end, though, I really don't think it's doing anyone any good to harbor these kinds of thoughts and feelings - if only for the sake of their own soul.
But, I've said my piece, and that's enough.
My soul is just fine thinking Ken Lay is a sorry example of human being. Thank you very much for worrying.
