These are the times that I hope I'm wrong about whether or not there is a God. Cause if I'm wrong, than Ken Lay is burning in Hell right now.

I heard that Jeffrey Skilling was under suicide watch some time ago? True or no true?
HEY! Just thought o this...Was he insured? I mean usually insurance is not subject to claims from creditors. Bet his family will be well provided for.
No need for an appeal now I guess
He was never sentenced, was he? If not, then there is no punishment, dead or alive.
I think he made a strategic business decision. There are drugs that induce heart attack--but they can found in a proper autopsy.
As long as the "medical examinaers" (bought and paid for by the Bushes, no doubt) find no evidence of suicide, his family stands to collect barrels and barrels of money in life insurance.

I thought that too at first, PJ, but the stress the dude was under could pop anyone off, especially someone in their 60s.
But 'twill be another mystery that our children and our grandchildren and their grandchildren shall twitter and twitter and twitter about until the end of times.
He was never sentenced.

The grim reaper sentence him Addy.
I feel sorry for anyone who blames every occurrence on George Bush.

I feel sorry for people who are so caught up in their own little 'it's only a message board/who gives a crap/get a life' attitudes that a human death becomes a platform for political bickering or banal comedy. It diminishes this board.

There's a hell of a lot of the above on this Off-Topic Board, to be sure. Most of it, in fact.
Huh? Wait, WHAT?? Ken Lay died?? Holy sheez..... Wow, that caught me by surprise. My, my... I can't believe I haven't seen it somewhere and I watched CNN for like an hour this morning. Anyway, wow.
*is very shocked*

Johnboy - This board has definitely shown that snarkiness can be raised to the level of art form - but it usually doesn't come in direct response to someone's death.

Ken Lay was an evil man who is hopefully buring in hell right now. I have no sympathy for the man who ruined thousands of lives.

How sure can we really be that he is really dead? Remember, this guy was G.W. Bush's main campaign contributor for years and years. Do you think they'd stop at faking some rich guy's death? The people who are saying he's dead are the ones who said he was innocent.
I'm only half kidding here.
Me? More like, "there is but one and I am she". I was on a BTVS kick when I made the username.
Anywho. :)

ZONE - Honestly, my reaction to him is pretty much the same. I'm reminded of when Reagan died, and we witnessed what ammounted to a coronation - and I thought he was . . . well, NOT deserving of coronation. BUT, I didn't use every opportunity to jump in the fray shouting his evilness right after he died because he had a family, and he had an existence - like all the rest of us - And I wouldn't place myself in the position of potentially causing distress to those who had to live through the very real reality of his life.
Ultimately, I think the perspective you espouse has been on display before in history - in a Roman collesium, in a French public square before a guilletine - but that doesn't mean it has to be what we wallow in.

I remember my reaction to Reagan's death being something like "Well, they finally pulled the plug on the old veggie, just in time for a D-Day commemoration so they can pretend he had something meaningful to do with WWII."
Ken Lay's death made me think it was just another scam, from a man with political connections to some of the biggest scammers of all time. Would the folks who sent us to invade a country based on Imaginary Weapons Of Mass Destruction think twice about croaking some homeless guy and putting him in the box instead of Lay so Lay can collect on the insurance and live happily ever after next door to the other great Bush Collaborator, Osama?
DG, the man destroyed the lives of HUNDREDS of people, so I'm sorry if I'm not sorry that he's dead--I am glad, if that makes me snarky, then snarky I can live with--besides, believe it or not, there ARE worse things than death.
I'm not sorry Hitler's dead either.
