b12--that sounds amazing! I never heard her sing that long a set but I heard her many times discuss a song with Tommy Flanagan or whoever was leading the band and then say "All right, let's do that one." That was the same spontaneity she brought to the scat numbers: you knew she had performed it before, but you also could feel how and when she was imnprovising. I really believe God sends performers like that as a gift to us.
