I remember trying to watch some of this when it first aired.
And you think Patti can be over the top?

When was Faye Dunaway actually confused for a good actress? Because she's utterly absurd in NETWORK.
"Faye, we're going to need more from you." -- words never uttered by any director anywhere at any time
I may not think she's good...but good CHRIST is she committed! And I love her for that!
"but good CHRIST is she committed!"
Certainly looks as though she should be.

I remember seeing her play Evita on tv. It was so huge they had to play it over two nights. At the end of night one, they took Juan Peron away and Faye is running after the car, then she trips and falls and lays sobbing on the ground. It was so funny.
Faye didn't have much of a stage career which, with her huge reactions to everything, is where she should be.
She was wonderful in "Bonnie and Clyde." And pretty great in the Musketeers movies.
But it seems like she pulled an acting muscle when she played Joan Crawford and then never recovered.
Faye is like Karen Black's scorned sister.
She's my sister. She's my daughter. She's my sister and my daughter!!!
What in gay hell was that?!
Shamelessly lifting CarlosAlberto's meme, EL OH EL!
She's so subtle, that one.

She was wonderful in Bonnie and Clyde. I suppose because she was fresh, it being one of her first films and all. But by the time of Chinatown seven years later and especially Network, she had begun to rely on her "Faye Dunaway persona." When I watched those films, all I saw was Faye being Faye, not the characters. I can't believe she won the Oscar for the latter when she was better and natural as Bonnie Parker.
As for Evita Peron, what a terrible film! You could tell it was made on the cheap, and Dunaway was ridiculously over the top, as evident in the OP's link.
I don't know...I kinda wanna watch the SH*T out of the whole Evita Peron film now.
I'll take this over Madonna any day.
Now here is a movie that I actually think could benefit from a re-make
OMG..."Let's All Chant"...haven't heard that song in AGES.
