And what must one do to pass YOUR smiling test?
To smile genuinely only increased tension, and I for one, have enough tension.
A (forced) polite, agreeable smile makes me want to gag and frankly hides something of your character.
When you force a smile to make someone happy, what is fake, the smile or the person?
When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, are they really?

Joe, the pix...I hadn't changed avatars yet.
Why is it, that in the 60's and 70's they always tried to make the girls pictures look like off in the distance they were seeing a naked man, Jesus, or a giant donut?

I've seen a hell of a lot of Irish eyes. And yet, Irish or not, I've never seen eyes smile.
And whether or not it's possible that eyes could smile, Irish ones don't, because Irish people (actual ones) are the biggest bunch of depressive moany gits in the world.
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say

our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.

The only thing more unsettling to me than a fake smile, is people who laugh at everything they say. LOL!
It's really annoying. lol
Because you can't really tell why they're laughing or what they're laughing about.
LOL!
I want to kill them.

I think it's in Jean Kerr's "Mary, Mary", a moviestar talks about how you smile in Hollywood and how you should never let your smile reach your eyes because that leads to wrinkles.
That's how RuPaul smiles.
The first time I ever really noticed such a smile was in a posed publicity still for the Robert Goulet tour of "The Fantastics" in the late '80s.
