LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Nine Hollywood hopefuls want you to remember their names.

MGM has compiled most of the lead cast for its remake of the 1980 musical "Fame." Kristy Flores, Paul Iacono, Paul McGill, Naturi Naughton, Kay Panabaker, Kherington Payne, Collins Pennie, Walter Perez and Anna Maria Perez de Tagle have joined the ensemble.
Glad to see Kherington from So You Think You Can Dance on there.

Honey, this is 2008. No boobies for the tweens.

Posted: 10/10/08 at 2:08pmI am not sure why there needs to be remake of this movie, but I, too, am happy for Kherington.

"No boobies for the tweens."
Then how are they going to learn about "getting into the business?"
I guess the Tootie becomes a hooker episode of Facts of Life will have to do.

Definitely will be reworked for the tweens. So in this version, they all get instantly famous when they graduate...or before!!! Or they graduate to go on a reality show.
Either way, I'm sure it'll be "amazing".

I'm guessing this will end up an annoying, cliched cross between American Idol, High School Musical and Saved By the Bell.
Three of my favorite things.

Posted: 10/10/08 at 5:04pmAwww, Kay Panabaker. I remember her from that show "Phil of the Future." She was the best thing about Disney channel... But I'm really worried that this movie will be ridiculously bad. And that's considering that I fall in the target age group AND that I liked High School Musical a lot when it first came out.

Posted: 10/10/08 at 11:17pmI think this is a 'remake' in title only. I don't think the script, songs or the characters are the same as the 1980 Alan Parker movie. Yeah - its basically HSM7
