MGM has compiled most of the lead cast for its remake of the 1980 musical "Fame." Kristy Flores, Paul Iacono, Paul McGill, Naturi Naughton, Kay Panabaker, Kherington Payne, Collins Pennie, Walter Perez and Anna Maria Perez de Tagle have joined the ensemble.
Glad to see Kherington from So You Think You Can Dance on there.
Wow! Maybe one of them will be the next Lee Curreri!!
Or the next Irene Cara
Or Gene Anthony Ray!

which one has to show her boobies?
Honey, this is 2008. No boobies for the tweens.
"Now put your thumb in your mouth and cry like a little schoolgirl..."
I am not sure why there needs to be remake of this movie, but I, too, am happy for Kherington.
"No boobies for the tweens."
Then how are they going to learn about "getting into the business?"
I guess the Tootie becomes a hooker episode of Facts of Life will have to do.
Definitely will be reworked for the tweens. So in this version, they all get instantly famous when they graduate...or before!!! Or they graduate to go on a reality show.
Either way, I'm sure it'll be "amazing".

What is the score going to be? Will they use some or all of the songs from the original movie and/or the Off-Broadway musical atrocity?
I'm guessing this will end up an annoying, cliched cross between American Idol, High School Musical and Saved By the Bell.
Three of my favorite things.
yay Kherington!

I want to know which one will be the next Isaac Mizrahi!
I can just hear the execs now, sitting around the production table talking about the new "Fame franchise."
*pukes*
I hear the Bratz tie-in dolls will be very tasteful!
Awww, Kay Panabaker. I remember her from that show "Phil of the Future." She was the best thing about Disney channel... But I'm really worried that this movie will be ridiculously bad. And that's considering that I fall in the target age group AND that I liked High School Musical a lot when it first came out.

I wish I had known about this/ auditioned for it!
lol See my rant on the main board...
I think this is a 'remake' in title only. I don't think the script, songs or the characters are the same as the 1980 Alan Parker movie. Yeah - its basically HSM7
