Favorite 80's Songs?

One of my favorites is Heaven Is A Place On Earth by Belinda Carlisle. My friend Jenny and I always blast it in her car and drive around singing it. We think we're pretty funny.

What's your favorite 80's song?

Oddly enough, it changes for me pretty often.

As of right now it's probably "Sunglasses at Night" by Corey Hart.

"Maniac" from FLASHDANCE, "Holdin' out for a Hero" from FOOTLOOSE, and "99 Luftballoons". Yeah, I know. The eighties were SUPPOSED to be cheesy! That's what was great about them!!!

I ask in all honesty/What would life be?/Without a song and a dance, what are we?/So I say "Thank you for the music/For giving it to me."

As do I...I have the original Bacharach version, too, and I have to tell ya, I like the Naked Eyes cover better! Now, the sad thing is (at least here on the west coast), the song has been turned into a jingle for a department store. "Always something there to excite me." Gag.

No to be picky, but as someone who actually bought "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" on casette when it came out, I have to correct you:

"Give It Away" and "Under the Bridge" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers are from 1991. (Late September, 1991, actually.) =)

On the same note, "I Touch Myself" by the DiVinyls also came out in 1991 (January.)

"Like A Prayer" indeed is 80's. It came out in 1989.

Thus endeth the 80's lesson for today...

I was not sure whether they were late 80's or early 90's.

I remember talking about the Peppers in the mid 80's with friends when they were touring some college venues, and I did not think that there were 6-7 years between the conversation about "this cool band" and the release of that specific album.
