So I'm reminded of a few more favorites...Not necessarily lines, but just hilarious things.
When the girls sing "Mr. Sandman" Dot does the bum-bum-bum-bum. NOT the "la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la..Mr Sandman, bring me a.." Rather the, "Mr Sandman, bring me a dream bum-bum-bum-bum. Make him the cutest that I've ever seen. bum-bum-bum-bum".......well on the third set of bum-bums..I think it's after, "give him the lips of roses & clover"...her bum-bums are like..the lowest notes ever out of a woman's mouth. It's amaazing.
You can't forget the episode where Dot becomes popular at Blanche's hangout, The Rusty Anchor, where she sings a beautiful version of Berlin's "What'll I Do?". In the middle it seems like she might be finished with the song, but she looks up and keeps on belting that sucker out hah. And we can't forget Blanche's failed attempt of "I Wanna Be Loved By You" where she wraps herself in her pearls and sits on the lap of a man who recently had a hip replacement.
Also, lastly, I love the episode where Sophia moves out. I can't remember if it was to the convent, or the one where she moves in with her 'friends'. But the three girls are left talking in the middle of the night, Blanche telling Dot that she misses talking to Sophia in the middle of the night, how she'd always give her a piece of candy. Then Rose tells her sad tale, and how she'd always ask for a piece of hard candy but, "Sophia would never let me, she was afraid I'd choke on it." :)
One more! When Dot and Sophia deliver Meals On Wheels..all the comments Sophia has with the shut-ins..something about how the Flintstones could've been real, and then when the hippie makes Dorothy name all seven of that music group..she growls out...David Dellingerr....haha
The mention of Sophia's room at night reminds me of another favorite moment - Sophia is sick of the girls bugging her (I think both Dorothy and Blanche are in her room at this point), so when Rose knocks, she says, "I'm not in right now. Leave a message after the beep. (pause) Beep."
"Hi, Sophia, this is Rose......"
Bwahahahaha.
"Which way do you want these pleats turned?"
"Toward Mecca."
