I know its kind of off topic...In celebration of the announcement that Rue McClanahan will be in Wicked, Id like to know what all of your favorite Golden Girls moments are.
....Mine is in the "break in" episode...Well rose has become really paranoid after their house heas been broken into...So the scene begins with Blanche lying on the couch with dorothy at her side...rose enters "whats wrong Blanche" blanche answers "whats wrong? Well I went to the police station today to see if they'd made any progrss in finding my jewels. I borrowed your travel size hair spray bottel. You know what the humidity does to my harir" "yes blanche I know" rose responds...then blanche continues " so then I notice this cute police officer and I take out your hairspray to touch up my hair and you know what. It was Mace! I stood there and maced myself in the middle of the police station...they thought I was on LSD they wanted to arrest me!....so hysterical!!
I am so excited that Rue McClanahan is going to be Madame Morrible. I was planning on bringing my niece down to see Wicked this summer anyway and now this just gives me so much more reason, YEAH!!!
Anyway, my favorite Golden Girls moment was when Blanche was trying to write her memoirs and she stayed up for three days with writers block so she was out in the kitchen while Rose was cooking breakfast. Rose kept taking the yolks out of the eggs so they would be healthy and saved them all in a sandwich bag to give to the homeless. haha. Then when Blanche comes out all tired and delirious she sees them and at first thinks their are a bag of eyes staring at her and later on she calls them little balls of sunshine. It is so much funnier when you see the episode, Rue is an amazing comedic actress.
Dorothy: Jean's a lesbian. Blanche: So? Isn't Danny Thomas one? Dorothy: Not Lebanese, Blanche. Lesbian. Blanche: Lesbian. (Thinks aloud to herself) Lesbian? (The realization hits) LESBIAN!??!!
I love both of those moments...and the egg yolk is one of my favorites....When Blanche and rose have to pretend be be real nuns and blanche says "im um collecting lingerie for uh needy...sexy ...people!" Classic!
Rose was dating a dwarf, a doctor who's name I believe was Jeffrey or something. Well it started that Blanche and the girls didn't know about Jeffrey's stature so when he first knocked on the door she opens it and says something along the lines of "Oh I'm sorry lil boy we already have a subscription to the Miami Herald" and closes the door in his face.
Later on when she's been introduced and is in the kitchen making the hor deurves, she walks into the living room where Jeffrey is seated, offers, "Shrimps??", immediately realizes what she said, cringes, and walks in a cirlce around the wicker chair right back into the kitchen.
God...there are just too many amazing moments & lines to list them all. The "Rose, lil' yellah eyeballs are staring at me! Oh, I may nevah sleep again. To sleep, perchance to dream! Ohh my gawwwd, that is genius, write this down the words are just flowin' from me!" (That's very paraphrased, but also one of my favorites, as mentioned above.)
My favorite moment was when Rose posted an off topic board mesage on the main board and Dorothy bitch slapped her for it...thankfully they were both dressed as cats for their local senior center's production of CATS
I love the one where the Girls are auditioning to be in a play with "Patrick Vaughn" and Blanche's name is called and she removes her jacket to reveal her enormous chest. They start the scene and "Vaughn" says something about the sun, and instead of saying the character's name, he says, "Busty".
Then they have their big passionate kiss and you can hear the balloons pop. There are so many great moments with that show... it's impossible to name just one!!
One of my favorite episodes is the one where Rose and Dorothy are trying to write a Miami theme song for a contest or whatever... "Miami is nice, so I'll say it twice. Miami is nice, miami is nice... Miami is nice." And of course... "Miami, you're cuter than an interuterin."
"what have we learned? Don't smoke... don't do drugs and don't sing 'Defying Gravity'." -CATSNYRevival
Well, I was going to say what morosco said...so I'll say the episode where Dorothy is dating a priest, but she doesn't know he's a priest until he shows up in his cleric's clothing. After spending forever trying to find something seductive to wear, Dorothy finally emerges in a sparkly sequined green top. She and the priest sit on opposite ends of the couch, uncomfortably:
Priest: "You look lovely tonight." Dorothy: "I look like the mother of a Solid Gold dancer."
Blanche's wedding/funeral dresses - Red. My partner, Zac bought a bright red pick-up he named Blanche and I commissioned a pin-up girl painted on the fender for his birthday. I gave the artist a whole series of pictures of McClanahan's early, vampy, screen roles. And it looks enough like her, as least for us.
Can you imagine what the show would have been like if they had stuck with the original casting: Rue as Rose and Betty White as Blanche?!!?? They switched roles during rehearsals.
My favorite moment is also the 'break in' scene where Blanche tells how she mazed herself in the middle of the police station.
The whole episode was hilarious, they come home and find the whole house has been turned upside down and Blanche runs in the kitchen and later comes out with her hands white and some white powder on her cheeks:
Blanche: They stole my jewellery!! Dorothy: But I see they didn't find your cocaine...
"Noah, someday we'll talk again. But there's things we'll never say. That sorrow deep inside you. It inside me, too. And it never go away. You be okay. You'll learn how to lose things..."
I just reread my post...it really doesn't seem as funny if you can't see Rue's face and hear her lines. I swear, it has "Emmy" written all over it when you see it.
"Noah, someday we'll talk again. But there's things we'll never say. That sorrow deep inside you. It inside me, too. And it never go away. You be okay. You'll learn how to lose things..."
When the plumber leaves and drops the toilet in the middle of the living room and Sophia says "Was the the plumber?" And Dorothy says "No ma, it was a little girl scout selling girl scout toilets!"
"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."

"I walk in the living room and there's a toilet there in front of the television set. It's an old ladies dream!"
"Noah, someday we'll talk again. But there's things we'll never say. That sorrow deep inside you. It inside me, too. And it never go away. You be okay. You'll learn how to lose things..."
As much as I love all those moments (the lesbian/lebanese one is a true gem), nothing is quite as hilarious as the dance contest in which Betty White is replaced by Bebe Neuwirth in a bad blond wig and proceeds to do front walkovers and ends in the splits.
I've seen that episode 150 times and it still makes me pee myself.
"I'm so looking forward to a time when all the Reagan Democrats are dead."
Seriously? That was Bebe?? WOW, I honestly never knew that!
"Noah, someday we'll talk again. But there's things we'll never say. That sorrow deep inside you. It inside me, too. And it never go away. You be okay. You'll learn how to lose things..."
LOL. And I was digging through DVD's to find that episode to see.
