When she's bawling her eyes out crying for Auntie Em and all of a sudden The Wicked Witch's face appears on the crystal ball mocking her "Auntie Em! Auntie Em! I'll give you Auntie Em!!!"

Yes, Marquise, we're glad you're back.
There's NO place like BWW, is there?
And you were there. And you. And you...

Of course, you're all right and I agree with every one of you!
I'll just add something that hasn't been mentioned.
On her TV show, in one episode, she brings Joey and Lorna on stage and sings to them. Every time I see it, I cry. It's so apparent that she loved her children and they adored her, unconditionally.

Looking at that jaw-droppingly gorgeous picture of her, it's so sad to think that she NEVER thought of herself as glamorous or very beautiful. (Thanks for that, Mr. Mayer!)
I have too many favorite moments to count, and most of you have mentioned them already. I think my favorite "acting" moment of hers is in "A Star Is Born" (and please forgive me if I'm vague), but it's the scene in her dressing room with those painted freckles on her face, where she's talking about Norman... then she wipes off the tears, and goes back to full smiles and cheeriness for the song playback. It's a tour de force scene for any actress... and how she didn't win the Oscar that year is beyone me. (Taking nothing away from Grace Kelly's work in "The Country Girl")
... but I mean COME ON.

Posted: 6/3/06 at 4:34pmI just thought of another moment I forgot to include- the "I love a piano" into "When the midnight choo-choo leaves for Alabam" medley from Easter Parade. Even that hilarious dance she does in the purple shoes for "Fiddle-up, Fiddle-up" with Astaire singing.

I actually want to thank you all for contributing to this thread! I'm thrilled that I'm not the only one who thinks Judy was the best there ever was! A great scene that I've always felt illistrates Judy's "Ugliness" from her MGM days (Who can fathom how those losers at MGM thought she was ugly and needed to be fixed? ) is in a Star is Born when she is getting ready for her screen test and the makeup artists are pointing out everything wrong with her. Its only when Norman wipes all the makeup off that you trulley see her beauty shine through. I've always felt that Judy was a beautiful person inside and out with the wickedist sense of humor.
I wrote this for the NJ Star Ledger which are publishing tributes to Judy in honor of a stamp unvailed in her likeness on June 10th at Carnegie Hall:
Many people see Judy Garland’s life as a tragedy. A life consumed with abuse, sorrow and heartache. In fact, when I mention to someone my admiration for Judy, the inevitable response follows: “My goodness, what a tragic life”.
I on the other hand have a different perspective on my favorite singer, originally named Frances Gumm. I see Judy as one who pulled through when the going got tough. She never lost her smile, that infectious laugh and warm heart so big you want to give her a great big hug! You can witness these qualities by just playing one of her many records or watching one of her television specials.
Judy Garland is my inspiration as she has been there for every emotional journey I have had and although I’ll never be able to meet her, I can say thank you Ms. Garland for all the good and the not so good times. To quote one of my favorite Judy Garland songs, forget your troubles, come on get happy…

I assume they will be on sale after the unveiling at Carnegie Hall on June 10th. Actually, I wanted to ask anyone if they are going to take pictures of the event. I can't because I'll be away but its free and tickets will be distributed at 5pm for the 7:30 celebration. Lorna, Joey and michael Feinstein are scheduled to perform and Lorna will do the unveiling.
Please PM me if you are going. I would be so grateful!
