Sweet God Almighty!!!

THAT was the most welcome sight I have seen in a LONG LONG TIME!!

Cookie, you are my personal god!!

..and yes, serenading would lure me out as well. (especially if your singing would annoy my jerk of a neighbor!!!) :)

ps. would you just look at the joy in that photo!!! Does a soul good.

re: Favorite MGM musical

*ahem* I believe that title belongs to a certain Mr. Ledger, of which I shall not take away...

Addy's singing would enchant. My singing would certainly annoy... :)

But yay! Smiles from AndyHardy!

re: Favorite MGM musical

Okay Andy--which word is she singing in that shot?

"And"

"it was grand"

"just to stand"

"with his hand"

"holding miiiine"

or

"till the end of the liiiiiiine!"

re: Favorite MGM musical

Do you guys remember when WGN out of Chicago would show "Meet Me in St. Louis" every Thanksgiving...that was always my favorite part of the holiday...Judy in that red dress singing "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."

re: Favorite MGM musical

PJ, I'm thinking "holding mine" -- as she is grasping her hand. :)

Cookie, your voice would not annoy me -- remember I hear myself every day in the shower.

..and as for Mr. Ledger (and to relate to this thread) he won my heart when he said that he loved Judy Garland and Gene Kelly and would love to do a re-make of The Pirate. Hey, the guy's got taste. re: Favorite MGM musical

NCGuy, nice. Judy, the red dress, a great ballad -- a lot to be thankful for on those Thanksgivings.

Tommy Rall...Tommy Rall...Tommy Rall...my crush since I was 13 years old. What a talent!

AAHHHHH! Howard Keel is fine (in many ways) but...

its Kathryn Grayson's *ss!!!

The sight made me LOL.

(As Olympia Dukakis says in Steel Magnolias, "Slap her!")

*edit* what's up with Madam Grayson's left hand?

I remember being a very young 'un watching this on PBS for the very first time. I was rolling on the stone cold floor laughing at that scene. And thought Ann Miller was the cat's meow during her dance sequences...

I guess

Picturing Cookie as a wee tot rolling on the floor laughing at a Cole Porter musical. I guess

...and as for Ms. Miller, I think I wanted her to stop blocking Tommy Rall. He was the "dog's woof!"

Funny, I first saw Kiss Me Kate on PBS as well when I was a boy.

Cheers to Public Broadcasting!!
