I LOVE MELVIN

What's up with these threads regurgitating from 1932??

Is this BWW's "second childhood" or "midlife crisis?"

Mustn't live in the past, my dears.

OKAY, but MY favorite MGM musicals are...

Wizard of Oz
Singin' in the Rain
An American in Paris
The Band Wagon
Meet Me in St. Louis
Easter Parade

Lesser-known ones (if that's even possible):
Summer Stock
Girl Crazy
Babes in Arms
Good News
Annie Get Your Gun (only lesser-known because it hadn't surfaced anywhere for legal reasons until just a couple of years ago)

"Jaws is the Citizen Kane of movies."

I think I like Meet Me In St Louis better than Wizard of OZ.

Wizard of OZ has gotten so campy.

FW---It's the same movie it always was, no?

The "camp factor" is projected from the viewer. You campy boy, you!

THE WIZARD OF OZ is the same as it's always been. Campy, is in the eye of the beholder. I see nothing "campy" about it.

"Singin in the rain"
The "Moses supposes"-sequence is unbeatable!

I'm the german Ethel Merman, don't you know... ;-)

At the same time, b12b? That's multitasking!

I loved it when I was younger, and when I watch it now (I actually haven't seen it in a few months) I don't see the magic that I once saw.

But it's still one of my favorites.

Gigi (hands down - can't wait for the coming bio on Minnelli)
Presenting Lily Mars
Meet Me in St Louis
For Me and My Gal
The Bandwagon
An American in Paris
Singin' in the Rain
Easter Parade (would like it a lot more without Peter Lawford)

I guess I'd go with:

IN THE GOOD OLD SUMMERTIME
THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN
SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS
