Having seen Tina perform in several skits, live, in front of an actual audience, I would have to disagree strongly with the backwards facing ~ff~. Like most Second City alums, that's one of her real strengths, and she doesn't actually get much of a chance to be in them on SNL, which has always been true of the Update anchors.
Personally.. I think SNL has gone a little down hill... my favorites are the classics
Glinda
Cheri
Molly
I have to second GlitzGuy's post. Tina for today, and Jan and Cheri for the past.

Point taken.
I'm sure she's brilliant when given a chance to shine.
It's just not evident from the SNL skits I've seen her in.
I loved Cheri, Ana, and Molly.

Ew... no Amy love. A curse on all your families! Amy is fabulous... why don't more recognize this???
I think she's a much better performer than Tina Fey. I have to agree, I think Tina's brilliance is better displayed in her writing. Amy is the SH*T, man. She's really animated and her impressions hurt my sides. She's where it's at!
As far as Maya goes... HILARIOUS, yes... but that woman is PSYCHOTIC.
Everyone who meets her swears she's INSANE... LOOK at this photo... just look. She's certainly NOT 'fronting'... this picture cracks me up everytime I look at it. I don't have the WORDS.
amy poehler gal here....have no fear daisy :)

Janeane Garafolo and Molly Shannon but I am a bit biased. Both of them were in a movie that I was in: "Wet Hot American Summer" They are both so nice, and Janeane Garafolo is such a great actress (I was in a scene with her)
Jan Hooks and Nora Dunn....but they all bow at the altar of Gilda...nobody in the current cast can hold a candle to any of these women...
I'm a Tina Fey lover myself. I do agree that the women are usually more entertaining than the men.
EyesInTheSpotlight: Glinda Radner? I'm afraid you've been listening to Wicked excessively. Her name is Gilda.
Tina has a wonderful saracstic wit and I feel she is terribly underutilized on SNL.
Rachel Dratch is a great comedian in the tradition of classic funny ladies who played the mugging, homely, manless types like Kaye Ballard, Peggy Cass and Rose Marie.
Cheri Oteri is a fantastic character comedian who is able to develop very diverse characters, each one with their own unique persona.
The incomparable Gilda Radner did all of that listed above.
There have been so many great ladies on SNL through the years - I can't pick one from this season, I love all of them, and Rachel Dratch did a kick-ass job with a recurring on King of Queens a couple of seasons ago...
Gilda was genius, though, in a way I don't think anyone else could ever be.

Of the current cast, Rachel Dratch without a doubt. I also like Maya.
Gilda was the best, along with the other ladies in the original cast.
I really enjoyed Best of Cheri Oteri on Sat night.

I think that Maya and Tina are sexy women.
Confidence and humor really are hot.
The funniest, I probably would say Tina, because she can probably last longer in terms of writing skills... I really enjoyed her movie.
but who can forget Nora Dunn & Jan Hooks as The Sweeny Sisters
...snow? snow? clang! clang! clang clang clang went the trolley...
LOVE the Sweeney Sisters BT....of course as said, Gilda is the queen -- Jan Hooks really did come into her own also and is a great sketch comic
Jan Hooks. One of today's most underrated talents. She does still crack me up on Jiminy Glick.
Nora Dunn is a god. Seriously. I am so crazy about her. SOOOO underused - she should be working 24/7/365.
It doesn't get a lot better than the Sweeny Sisters singing a Simon and Garfunkle medley to Paul Simon. I can still see them screaming "Bridge over troubled water" and the look of utter shock on his face. Good times, good times.
