I don't like it because it sounds like Fergie is trying uber hard to sound like a bitch and that just annoys me, can't get it out of my head, but she should not rap

Tonya - it's because I'm a huge hip hop fan that I hate this song so much.

It's bargain basement Missy Elliott. Like, the kind of thing Missy Elliott would record when down with the flu, and then when whittling down to the hot stuff for her album, would have tossed to the side, or sold off to Tweet.

Her rap style is straight outta three years ago, ripping the EXACT rhythm and meter of "Tipsy". "Now, he on the sideline staring at my CLICK". "Paparrazi come and put us in the NEWS".

Lame. Lame, lame, lame.

And, once again, she's proven why the Black Eyed Peas commenced to sucking once she joined. They used to be mentioned in the same breath as Slum Village and The Roots. They coulda been contenders. Nowadays, everything they do is the same surface, shallow, booty shaking, socially irresponsible junk that everybody else does on Top 40 radio. I'm surprised she didn't spit sixteen bars about 22's.

The sad thing is, I think she's talented. I just think they went the easy route, and copped the good stuff off of everyone else, the originators (ie, black people), and packaged it up for her perfect white abs.

And, Will I. Am is a good producer, despite having contributed the worst song in music history, MY HUMPS. That song singlehandedly made America dumber last year. And, yet...he co-wrote and produced one of the most sublime r&b ballads of the last ten years, "Ordinary People".

The lowest common denominator?

Yep....

Fergie Ferg.

ps...it's also waaaaaaay dumb that she spells it "Dutchess".
Unless she's from Holland, and then I take it back.

ok, end of crazy old man rant.

I like Hip Hop (Missy, Jay-Z, Outkast, etc.), but Fergie's song is just crap (And this is coming from someone who actually likes "My Humps"). The thing with a lot of songs today (Hip Hop and Pop), are that it is just a chorus repeated over and over and over . . . Gwen Stafani, I am pointing my finger at you . . . and her voice is really annoying in the song as well. I think she has a great voice, but not in that particular song.

Please, don't even call it a song. calling it a song leaves the impression that it is actually music, which "London Bridge" definitely is not.

It's a catchy little bugger. But, music it is not.

I have NEVER met Cheyenne Jackson. I have never hung out with him in his dressing room, he did not tweet me, he never bought me a beverage, and he mostly certainly didn't tickle me. . .that is all.

Tonya Fanatic thinks she's the expert on all things ghetto and hip/hip. She's quite laughable.

I hate Fergie's song, Fergie's voice, and he fug meth face.

"Tonya Fanatic thinks she's the expert on all things ghetto and hip/hip"

Munk I'm not from any ghetto so I don't know what youre talking about. YOU think i am an expert. I never said I was an expert on anything. What you need to do is watch what you say to me, once again; you don't know me.

And what makes this not music? Most of you probably think Hip/Hop is music they make so you can dance and it's not relevant or saying anything worth listening to. I completely disagree with it being bargain basement Missy Elliot. That's probably a more ridiculous statement than Munk's comment. It is completely Fergie. She is original and that's something you can't deny whether you like it or not.Well some of you probably wouldn't know original hip/hop from unoriginal anyway.

Tonya--I respect your opinons, but how is "London Bridge" giving a message? That is why I like Missy, Jay-Z, *some* Tupac, etc. because a lot of their songs are autobiographical. And I also like Outkast and others because their music is fun to bounce around the car too and sing/rap along. But, "London Bridge" has no message, and is all in the name of fun. But, like I said before, it is pretty much just the chorus over and over and it gets annoying after a minute or so of that chorus.

"London Bridge" Lyrics"

When I come to the club, step aside.
Part the seas, don’t be havin' me in the line.
V.I.P., ‘cause you know I gotta shine.
I’m Fergie Ferg, and me love you long time

All my girls get down on the floor,
Back to back, drop it down real low.
I’m such a lady, but I’m dancing like a ho,
‘Cause you know
I don’t give a ****, so here we go!

[Chorus]
How come everytime you come around,
My London, London bridge, wanna go down like,
London, London, London, wanna go down like,
London, London, London, we goin’ down like…

How come everytime you come around,
My London, London bridge, wanna go down like,
London, London, London, wanna go down like,
London, London, London, we goin’ down like…

[Bridge]Now As The drinks start pouring,
And my speech start slurring,
Everybody start looking real good.

[Verse 2] Grey goose got your girl feeling loose.
Now I’m wishin’ that I didn’t wear these shoes. (I hate heels)
It’s like everytime I get up on the dew,
Paparazzi put my business in the news.

And I’m like get up out my face, (oh ****)
'fore I turn around and spray your ass with mace. (oh ****)
My lips make you wanna have a taste. (oh ****)
You got that?
I got the bass.

[Chorus]
How come everytime you come around,
My London, London bridge, wanna go down like,
London, London, London, wanna go down like,
London, London, London, we goin’ down like…

How come everytime you come around,
My London, London bridge, wanna go down like,
London, London, London, wanna go down like,
London, London, London, we goin’ down like…

[Bridge 2}
Aah, da, da, da, da, do, do, do, do
Me like a bullet type, you know they comin' right
Fergie love em' long time
My girls support right?
Aah, da, da, da, da, do, do, do, do
Me like a bullet type you know they comin' right
Fergie lve em' long time
My girls support right?

[Verse 1]
When I come to the club, step aside.
Pop the seats, don’t be hatin' me in the line.
V.I.P., ‘cause you know I gotta shine.
I’m Fergie Ferg, give me love you long time

All my girls get down on the floor,
Back to back, drop it down real low.
I’m such a lady, but I’m dancing like a ho,
‘Cause you know
I don’t give a ****, so here we go!

[Chorus]
How come everytime you come around,
My London, London bridge, wanna go down like,
London, London, London, wanna go down like,
London, London, London, we goin’ down like…

How come everytime you come around,
My London, London bridge, wanna go down like,
London, London, London, wanna go down like,
London, London, London, we goin’ down like…

F*CK you, bitches.

Toyna, I don't pretend to know real hip-hop. And I admit I'm not a big fan of it. But, I can still respect the musical aspects of it. This, in my opinion is not it. And the only reason I think alot of people are very vocal about putting this song down is that Fergie is talented enough put out something WAY better than what she's giving us. Even if you like the song and happen to see music in it, you have to admit that Fergie is capable of ALOT better. (I will spell check this later)

Do you guys even know what "London Bridge" is about?

It's about an orgy. A foursome, and the sexual position that 2 men and 2 women make while having sex. That is from Fergie's own lips.

What's the message?

Really? Ewwww! I just thought it was typical "find words that sort of rhyme and can somehow sound sexual."

All I know is the first time I heard this song on the radio I thought it was a morning DJ making a parody of what a sluttish top 40 song was supposed to sound like. I find it utterly without merit.

And to think, 20 years ago Frankie Goes to Hollywood couldn't get airplay because "Relax, don't do it!" was deemed too explicit.

Uh...Tonya, I can deny that she's original and just did because...there's NOTHING original about this song. I even gave you an exact example: J-Kwon's, "Tipsy". Same rhyme scheme, same stresses at the end of the lines. Her lyrics in this song are unoriginal and derivative at best, although I'd bet my grandma she didn't even write them. She didn't say one original thing in this song. Not one single original thought. In fact, I'd say she hit about every cliche on the checklist except for, like I said, "rims". Vodka: check. Vip: check. Paparazzi: check. I mean, even K-Fed found an original way to reference them. (Pavarotti's)

And, it's because I like thoughtful, intelligent hip hop that I think this is crap. I love guys like Jay-Z, Kanye, Common...those guys HAVE a message. Eminem, 50...those guys have something to say. So did BEP until Fergie showed up. That was their sellout moment, since then it's been all junk that other people have done better. Gwen Stefani at least takes other people's stuff and blends it into her own signature style. The fact is that even as a club track it doesn't have half the originality or character as a dozen other hip hop girls out right now. I'm thinking "Bossy", by Kelis, or something like that.

Back up your opinion with some evidence. Show me where she's done something original. And, I'll quickly point out to you a rapper who has done it before, and better.

I do think she's hot, though.

"thoughtful, intelligent hip hop"

so you are saying none of the rappers you named rap about frivolity, drug use, paparazzi or anything else that's been "done before"? You're comparison to J-Kwon's Tipsy is soooo silly in itself. You really think Fergie went into the studio saying "Im gonna redo J-Kwon's song but in my own style" please sir. and don't try to threaten a knowledge display, because you don't want it.

I like it (please don't yell at me like everyone else), I have it caught in my head all the time now.

Of course I also liked "Galang".

EDIT: Since when did Fergie say it was about an orgy? Last time I checked she told Time magazine that she was going to leave it up to the listeners to figure out what "London Bridge" meant.

I'm not saying you're lying, but I'd really appreciate some proof. Updated On: 9/24/06 at 02:06 AM

In the song, "Disco Club" by Black Eyed Peas, they sing about sipping on "Cresson."

Does anyone know what Cresson is?

My friend has been nagging me about it, and she won't leave me alone until I find her an answer.

Fergie, just show us your tits and lets put this charade to rest once an for all.

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

"Im gonna redo J-Kwon's song but in my own style" please sir. and don't try to threaten a knowledge display, because you don't want it.

Fergie seemed to have done that when she took JJ Fad's Supersonic and called it Fergaliscious. She even tried to rap as they did in the end, but JJ Fad's speed just left Fergie in the dust.

Oh, and Tonya, instead of teasing us about how much you know and how little others do, why don't you enlighten us and give us real solid examples of why your opinion is so much more valid than those who wrote lengthy posts with supported arguments.
