I've often wondered if the original Fergie (Duchess of York) gets pissed that someone else has her moniker as their stage name. I admit that when the Black-Eyed Peas first came out, I thought that Sarah had joined a band. I was, like, WTF?

#7re: Fergie's single (London Bridge)
Posted: 8/1/06 at 6:09pmI wish she was singing. I bought it from I-Tunes all excited like, (I'm too dumb too listen to the sample first) then I listened to it and she was rapping. EW!!

I still think she was better off in Wild Orchid. She looked better, sounded better, and actually wrote decent songs. She could have given Christina Aguilera a run for her money back then.

This song is awful.
I usually can find something enjoyable in the crappy commercial pop/R&B/hip-hop stuff that is on the radio today, but this song is just annoying.
And what the hell is she talking about, anyway?

Get your head in the gutter and you might understand the lyrics.
She's still with BEP, for the record. She's just doing a side project. It's on Will.I.Am's label, I believe.
I love the new song. LOVE it. I don't think she needs to give X-Tina a run for her money. She's found her own thing. I don't think there's another woman in the biz right now doing what she's doing.

Give Christina Aguilera a run for her money? Seriously? Whether or not you like her material, Christina Aguilera irrefutably has one of the greatest voices of all time (and this is coming from someone who is a professional singer and an extremely picky critic). Anyone who disagrees with that is not familiar enough with her body of work. For example, venture to YouTube.com and search for her version of "At Last". It's remarkable.
On a more relevant note, Fergie's single "London Bridge" is catchy, but I can't give her any credit because it's literally a mish-mash of about four hit singles released by other artists over the last year. She has another solo track, though... I don't remember the name of it. It's a ballad that shows off her voice, and it's much better than this current single.

To assume that someone who does not find Christina's voice remarkable is ignorant...is well....ignorant. She has a great voice, but she's not one of the best of all time. Please.
And Fergie's single has some of the worst lyrics I've ever heard.

Yeah, I'm not sure why you'd say Christina has one of the best voices of ALL time. Sure, she has a better voice than many of the pop stars out there, but there are people who can sing better than her.
Don't get me wrong--I love Christina, especially her new single--but that's just ridiculous to say she has one of the best voices of all time.

It's not ridiculous to say that at all. The girl was covering Whitney Houston songs at age twelve, and she sang them DAMN well. She is adept in numerous music genres that are not limited to jazz, rock, R&B, and latin. She has more control over her voice than most singers who train in her vocal styling for years. Did you not WATCH the clip that I mentioned in my last post? Name five singers who have accomplished themselves in a wide variety of genres while maintaining both the technicality and the unique sound of their voices. There simply aren't that many. ESPECIALLY ones who achieved these things by her age.
P.S. Parks, I am not basing my opinion solely on her discography. If anything, I'm basing my opinion MORESO on her (sadly) unrecorded body of work. It's not fair for the sake of debate, but, as far as I'm concered, there isn't one...

Excuse me, but I said "back then" she COULD have. Please do not twist my words and take them as an insult to Christina.
I'm saying that before Fergie joined the BEP, her vocal chops were a lot better with the material she recorded with Wild Orchid. I prefer her with WO as opposed to now. It was just a minor comparison. Pardon me for not specifying.
By the way, I am a huge Christina fan and have been since her debut.

Posted: 8/4/06 at 2:34amI wasn't meaning to insult you. It's just one of my biggest pet peeves when people lump Aguilera into the cesspool of contemporary artists whose chops wouldn't warrant them a place in a high school choir let alone a Top 40 chart. My bad.

*bumpity bump*
Anyone buy the "Duchess" album???
so I've become a fan of the London Bridge song, and I love this album. It's very solid and quintessentially Fergie. I can't get "Fergalicious" and "Clumsy" out of my head.

I purchased Fergie's album yesterday. I don't like "London Bridge", but there's some really great stuff on there. She can really sing.
Tracks to look for:
"Velvet" (my favorite track)
"Finally" (she sounds her best on this)
"Losing My Ground"
"Big Girls Don't Cry"
"All That I Got"
"Clumsy"

I hated it at first but now I like it and that's not a song I'd typically enjoy. My favorite line is "Im such a lady but I'm dancin like a ho."
Brilliant..sort of.
