Michael Leisner is a staunch opponent of gay marriage who, in protest to the food corporation's stance on gay marriage rights, lit a box of Cheerios on fire on the front lawn of General Mills' headquarters.

Posted: 8/9/12 at 1:31amI didn't know Cheerios is " Really the treat now for the homosexuals". I'm glad he got that piece of information out before he made a run for his car. Now I know what to have in my pantry for unexpected guests.

Posted: 8/9/12 at 1:37amSo religious heterosexuals eat fried chicken, and the gays stick to cheerios?
#6Fiery Anti-Same-Sex Marriage Protest Outside General Mills
Posted: 8/9/12 at 1:38amDid he advertise this protest? The people filming him seem clearly to be mocking him (with good reason), but somehow they knew about it, and yet I don't even see anyone else there.

I'm not really keen on people losing their jobs for doing idiotic things off the clock, like the guy who got canned after he videotaped himself being a total douche to the girl at the Chick Fil A drive-through.
At this point, I don't know what to say or do anymore. We've emboldened homophobes to the point that they really believe they deserve to live in a world where gay people can have their rights voted on. What are they hoping is going to happen? That if they make it unpleasant enough for gay people in this country, people will stop being gay?

BAck in the 80s, there was a real push from white supremist that wanted the US Government to "give" over the 4 northwestern states as a white america.
Maybe they have the right idea: a few states for them, a few for gays only, a few for straights only, a few for blacks, a few for interacial, some for interfaith, some for whacko christians. one section for tea partiers. I don't think that leaves any for those of us that just want decent human beings to live in one place.
The country would be so much better off.
(and in case you were concerned, the above is dripping with sarcasm.)

dramamama, I have ALWAYS been for giving the northwest to the racists. Idaho, the Dakotas and Wyoming. States we don't use very much. :) Only White people go to Mt. Rushmore anyway, so it's a minor scarifice to have the nuts away from the rest of us.
Just sayin.

While no one advocated for the homophobe to be fired, it looks as if the company made that choice all on its own. And good for them.
I think it's time that they learn that stupidity has a price.

Posted: 8/9/12 at 6:22pmYou might be a redneck if...your idea of a political protest is to film yourself lighting Cheerios on fire in a barbecue grill on a windy day.
