I just recently rented Final Destination 3 from Netflix and decided to watch it today only to find that it skips the death scenes. I haven't seen the movie yet, but it's pretty obvious when someone is supposed to die.
::POSSIBLE SPOILER::
In the tanning bed scene it skipped straight to the funeral after the girl said "it won't hurt to turn it up a few degrees."
After that it only got worse making the story almost incomprehensible (sp?).
Anyways I ended up taking it out after a little while (at this point the movie already paused and wouldn't start playing again) because I didn't want to spoil anything if I couldn't watch the best part of the movie!
Anyone else having a problem with the Final Destination 3 DVDs?

Haven't seen it yet but the first two were delightfully bad...I hope the third delivers. I'll be sad if it's bad bad and not it's usual awesome bad.

I loved the first two, although I must say that as more sequels are churned out they seem to be taking themselves less seriously. The characters also seem MUCH more stereo-typed this time around, although I must say I think I like it better this way (but I'll save my opinion until I'm actually able to watch it!).
I just watched this and I love it! I have no idea why your dvd won't play the death scenes sorry I can't help you there. I've heard of other people having problems playing their dvd's, but I don't know why. The death scenes are pretty cool in this one too. The "choose their fate" feature thing is kinda cool at first. I don't want to spoil anything so I'll just stop there hehe

I'm assuming it has something to do with the "choose their fate" thing, since I read online about other people having problems with the DVD pausing right before a death scene because of that game (it seems like a lot of the discs are buggy because of it). Either way I'm sending it back and asking for a replacement, but I may just buy it so I don't have to wait that long...
The third was was the weakest in the series. I think the second one is the best! That one actually scared me.

I thought the first one was actually scary. The others (however much I love them) were just gruesome and kinky.

I will buy this DVD. Didn't see the movie yet, but I have the first two and I love the "series."
The problem with the DVDs, is the "Choose Their Fate" feature. It depends on your player. I have one DVD player, that at each point where you would make a decision (if you had selected that option), the film has a momentary pause, as if it was doing a layer change. On another player, it plays fine. I've not heard of anyone having a problem with it actually skipping the entire scene, until now. If you have another DVD player, try playing it on that. I agree that the 3rd one is the weakest (my favorite is part 2); but, it's fun, nonetheless.
I have never heard this probably anywhere? I have friends that work at Blockbuster and they haven't had one complaint.
Plus, my DVD has been working perfectly.
The Final Destination series are my favorite movies. You have no idea, I like flip out about it when somebody asks for a simple description of the movie. I actually thought that they rushed the third one. Like it's in such a hurry to kill everybody off, but still it's okay because the deaths are really great in the third. Plus, some of my favorite actors were cast in this one so the third one really is my favorite. Plus, the special features are AMAZING. The making-of featurette is feature-length!
The Change-Their-Fate feature wasn't as cool as I thought it was gonna be, but nonetheless, it was a really nice feature.
That's my opinion!
1. Final Destination 3
2. Final Destination
3. Final Destination 2
Gratuitous nudity with Chelan Simmons and Crystal Lowe frying on tanning beds. *yawn* (Are Chelan's boobs fake? Must be, right?)
What is the choose their fate feature like? How does that really affect the movie?
Tiff, if they are not fake then she needs to sue her parents!
I saw the 3rd one in the theatre, and the tanning bed scene disturbed me for DAYS afterward. It was truly horrifying, and extremely gruesome...something about it made it MUCH more disturbing than any of the other scenes. (Perhaps part of it is that I am extremely claustrophobic, and mankind's most primal fear is of fire? The combination of the two is NOT pleasant, when played out that way.)
But I mean, when their arteries started exploding? GOD. I nearly passed out...
I agree, that the "tanning bed" scene freaked me out, because it looked realistic. That is what scared me about FINAL DESTINATION 2, was because the death scenes were gruesome and highly realistic looking. Let's just say that I will not be driving behind log trucks EVER AGAIN! In the third movie, besides the tanning bed scene, you could tell that it was computer graphics. In the first one, it was freaky but some of the death scenes were drawn out for WAY TOO long.
It's sad that it took me until Final Destination 3 to finally savvy to the whole beginning gimmick...
Oh, but I'm on to them now...
Although, I actually liked the plane and car crashes better than the whole roller coaster kabob.
*SPOILERS*
Millie - The "Choose their fate" feature is like an interactive thing you can do. It doesn't really "change" the movie in any way. The outcome is still the same and they all end up dying on the subway. It's more like they're deleted scenes then actually changing the movie. One of the major changes is there is a coin toss before they get on the ride. If you choose tails, none of them get on the ride and they all live. It even tells you what each character went on to do in their life and it ends. Then it asks you something like "would you like to see what happened if you chose heads" or something like that and it goes back and plays it as if you chose heads. Another change you can do is to save "Frankie". In that scene you're given the option to honk the car horn again to tell him to get out of the way of the oncoming truck or to just get out of the car. If you choose to not honk again, both characters get out of the car and Frankie dies. If you choose to honk again, you get out of the car and save him. He shows up later being arrested at the police station and it asks "was Frankie worth saving?" and you can choose yes or no. Another change you can do is the tanning bed deaths. One of the girls is changing the thermostat and it pauses and asks you to set it as 73 or 76 degrees. I think if you choose 73 degrees they both are fried in the tanning beds. If you choose 76 degress then it's a little different. One girl is able to get out of the tanning bed and tries to save the other girl but they both end up getting electrocuted. So you can't save them it's just a different way of dying. None of the other deaths are like that though. As I said before, they're more like deleted scenes. They end up dying the same way as in the theatrical version. There's also a really cool option towards the end...When Wendy is on the subway with her friends and it asks you "map or no map" choose map and a little later on in the scene, they show a homeless guy laying on a bench with a newspaper on top of him with an article about the deaths of the 2 characters from the Final Destination 2. It asks you if you want to read the article so I thought that was pretty cool.
I have never heard this probably anywhere? I have friends that work at Blockbuster and they haven't had one complaint.
Plus, my DVD has been working perfectly.
It's not the DVD, per se, but the DVD in conjunction with certain players. It IS that feature that is causing it, and it has been mentioned in several DVD reviews.
I'm not gonna lie... I love the original Final Destination. It was a unique horror movie, with plenty of style and energy. The sequel had great death scenes, but little spark. The third one, I thought, was just tired. The only good scene was the roller coaster. Other than that, it just went throught the motions. On top of anything else, it wasn't even fun. Unlike the first two, this one had a much more depressing and sadistic feel to it.

Just finished watching it and it was the DVD player. I have a Toshiba 2-disc player so if you have that it may not work.
I really enjoyed it, although I agree with whoever said the deaths seem very rushed, I liked the first one better when they were elaborate and drawn out. I actually ended up buying the entire trilogy at Best Buy for only $35!
::POSSIBLE SPOILER::
I also agree with whoever said that the tanning bed scene was the best death, the only problem I saw (and yes I look for faults) is that it seems as if they could have easily pushed the board out of the beds since it seemed very loose. I also thought the nudity was pretty pointless since I don't remember any in the other FD films.
