Russian oppression! NSA wire-tapping! Arsenic-laden-chicken poop!
Ted Turner, take me away!!!
"Summer under the Stars" continues, and Sunday, the 18th is Natalie Wood Day. Just in case you're not up (or not still up), set those DVRs now.
6:00 AM The Star (1952)
7:30 AM Cry in the Night (1956)
9:00 AM West Side Story (1961)
11:45 AM The Searchers (1956)
1:45 PM Rebel Without a Cause (1955)
3:45 PM Splendor in the Grass (1961)
6:00 PM Sex and the Single Girl (1964)
8:00 PM The Great Race (1965) (also Essentials Jr.)
11:00 PM Gypsy (1962)
1:30 AM Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice (1969)
3:30 AM Inside Daisy Clover (1965)
Great lineup!
But no Miracle on 34th Street?
I guess it will play often enough on Thanksgiving.
Still, I kinda see that as the film that put her on the map (and at such a young age!).
No Brainstorm?
I have my DVR all set up and ready to record!
It *is* a great lineup, but I do think that 'Miracle on 34th St' is conspicuous by its absence. Especially when 'Gypsy' and 'Inside Daisy Clover' have both been on TCM within very recent memory.
And what about 'Marjorie Morningstar'? I've never seen that one...
Underrated Wood performance: THIS PROPERTY IS CONDEMNED.
I've been wanting to see Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice for a while. Exciting!
I really wish they would have added MARJORIE MORNINGSTAR, THIS PROPERTY IS CONDEMNED and her Oscar nominated performance in LOVE WITH THE PROPER STRANGER. But I'm not going to complain. An All-Natalie Day was long over-due.
I am genuinely surprised at how many young fans she has to this day through their exposure to REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE and WEST SIDE STORY.
Her legend lives on.
A couple of months ago Warner Home Entertainment released a Natalie Wood set for their GREATEST CLASSIC LEGENDS series.
