Much as I hate the idea of Big Brother watching me - I am SO anti-smoking - so I think this could be a good thing in the long run.
It could be, unless companies decide that any potentially unhealthy behavior is too much of a risk...drinking alcohol, having non monogamous sex, etc.
Are all the golf courses there private?

Well, although I do agree this company will be in lawsuits up to their eyeballs, I don't think it's an altoghether bad thing. If they send the message that smoking is just plain bad, maybe people will get the idea and stop (or just not start, depending). I personally think this is a good thing.
'they send the message that smoking is just plain bad,'
That message is sent on every pack of cigarettes.
Adults should be able to live their lives (especially behind their own doors) as they see fit. Their personal habits (in their own homes) should not be a factor when getting a job unless that behavior negatively affects your job performance. That's just completely ridiculous.
I miss smoking...a great deal. And, honestly, I wouldn't have quit if it were just a health issue. As a singer, I recognize that it is detrimental to my breathing and sound. But lord, do I ever miss it.

I know for a fact that smoking has been banned at the Presido for a while now.
There isn't one positive thing I can say about smoking except for maybe it kills-off some peopel before they pollute the gene pool.

Which would be fine if it were a stand-alone issue. However, smokers not only statistically take more time off for being sick, they also raise the company's insurance rates.
The only way to implement this properly is to make tobacco products illegal. Otherwise, they are playing a dangerous game by trying to control people's personal consumption of anything considered "unhealthy". It's true cigarettes are bad for your health, but so is alcohol and junk food. I'm afraid this could open a Pandora's Box of yet more limitations on personal freedom. Whether or not you like smoking, I don't see how this could possibly be good in any way. I seriously hope this company gets sued in a BIG way.
yep yep yep
Too bad it take emphazema (probably spelled wrong) takes so long to kick-in.
Well, that sucks.
I think it's now part of "Gold Gate National Recreation Area" which includes Golden Gate Park, Alcatraz Island, and some other stuff.
Definetly not State, though.
Honestly, that's insane. I don't smoke and I am totally against it, but people shouldn't lose their jobs for it! Let 'em smoke on their own time...after all, it's their lungs their hurting! And before I get lectured on second hand smoke, it's their free time they're doing it on. At least with smoking bans in bars and such, they can smoke outside. Give them a break people.
Liam I have tried to be nice to you. But I would just like to give you and JamieHat a big giant FU*K OFF! Both of you, FCUK OFF. I am sick to death of people who don't smoke condeming smoking. You haven't smoked or been hooked on smoking so you have no earthly idea. I on the other hand can say "Don't follow my example, smoking isn't the best thing for you." But the two of you need to shut up and comment only when you know what the deal is. You children!
