I don't know if this is old news or not, IMDB tends to be a couple of days late with their headlines.
But anyway, I hadn't seen it so I'd thought I share.
People's Choice Unchosen
Oh well, most of the awards shows suck anyway. I don't know why I'm even drawn to watch them every year. The one I will miss is the Oscars, because a friend always has a fun Oscar party.
I do wonder what kind of impact this will have on box office. These awards shows generate huge amounts of publicity for films.
Never fear, artscallion. The Oscars WILL happen, according to the Academy's web site.
Although I have no idea what kind of show it will be.
Our news said that it will be taped with pre-recorded acceptance speeches.
Pre-recorded means pre-announced.
That will NEVER happen.
Couldn't they get a Price Waterhouse spokesman to pre-record it and keep the tape under wraps the same way they do the actual envelopes?
You'll never get pre-recorded acceptance speeches. Not without a leak to the media.
...and a mass advance posting on YouTube.

I think it is great. All those written introductions and bad jokes and presentations are a total drag anyway. I hope the Oscars are just a quick presentation of the nominees and winners. The show would be done in about 25 minutes. Awesome.
Bring back Debbie Allen!
I am just conveying what I heard on the morning newscast this morning.
And here is a statement from People's Choice:
"We realize there are pressing issues facing the entertainment industry, including the WGA strike, and out of respect for everyone involved this provided an opportunity to pilot a new format this year," awards spokeswoman Jeannie Tharrington told The Associated Press.
The show will include pre-recorded acceptance speeches by winners as well as their responses to questions sent in by fans, according to a People's Choice statement.
The "new approach will give fans a more personal glimpse into the lives of their favorite actors and musicians," awards President Fred Nelson said in a statement."

"Bring back Debbie Allen!"
Honey, she was the reason they cancelled it.
Rob Lowe will do it...where's Snow White?
I'm sure "Sydney White" will get loads of nominations, so it's a natural.
Updates on January premieres:
• The 34th Annual People's Choice Awards will air as originally scheduled on January 8th (in case you were thinking it may be cancelled, CBS says the show will go on).
• NBC's The Celebrity Apprentice has moved back a week and will debut January 10 at 9p.
• USA Network's Monk will begin season six January 11 at 9p and Psych opens its second season the same night at 10p.
• ABC's special premiere of Cashmere Mafia which was scheduled for January 3 has moved to January 6 at 1001p, followed by its regular time period debut on January 9 at 10p.
...It's still on!
Just saw the commercial for the People's Choice Awards this morning with Queen Latifah.

I don't even know why I watch these award shows. I do enjoy the Tony's and The oscars, but the others are quite boring.
I watch the Tony's, Golden Globes and the Oscars. I will peek in on the VMA's just to see who is doing something that's gonna hit the news the next day!!
