I had never seen the show Modern Family until last night's episode. (I really, truly, hate Ed O'Neill).

Ed's character explained that he accidentally killed his (now adult) son's bird "Flyza Minnelli" when it flew it into a fan. Then there was a line to the effect... "And we couldn't figure out he was gay?"

Not a bad show, just not my cup of tea, glad I watched it once though, That gag was funny.

I just didn't care for Ed O'Neil's character on Married w/ Children. I always thought he was totally charming in interviews and I LOVE "Yay" on Modern Family.

That joke was funny. I liked the fact that the turtle was "Shel Turtlestein". I love the gay couple and the cuban woman on that show, but that's about it. If the show was just about those characters, I would love it, but I just can't stand Phil!

Phil is probably my favorite character. They didn't have a bad episode all season. Hope it continues season 2.

Thanks for the correction, it was one of those things where you're thinking one thing and say another thing.

What I don't like about Phil is that he reminds me of an exagerated version of my dad, which can get annoying. I understand his kids so much.

I've never been an Ed O'Neill fan but now realize he's not Al Bundy. This show is a joy.

I just can't stand Phil

Then the show is succeeding: You are having the reaction his daughters have.

He's come to be one of my favorite characters on the show, just for the little moments when you see him realizing he's been an ass...and then he goes back to being exactly that.

And I love him because Claire loves him.

If I were a writer on that show I'd do a flashback and show how each couple got together. There is some comedic gold to be mined there.

I like Cougar Town and The Middle more than Modern Family but I watch it from time to time.

It's funny, my ex loves the show but does not like Ed O'neill because he keeps seeing him as the father in "Married With Children" and doesn't like him in this role. The character that kind of annoys me is Cameron. I love Phil. And Ty Burrell is hot.
