the epic just-as-good-as-the-majority-of-films prison fiction for me is OZ.
"Me-lo-ni, i just saw the *ss on Me-lo-ni, and nothing will ever be the same..."
Never had HBO when "Oz" was on.
Sounds like I missed a HEAP of fun!

I don't like using superlatives like "most favorite" or "best ever," but I will say that "Ladies They Talk About" (1933), with Barbara Stanwyck and Lillian Roth, is a lot of fun. It's pre-code, so they're able to do some funny stuff with the more masculine inmates.
And for the 1970s, you can't overlook BORN INNOCENT.
MY PLUMBER certianly never used a plunger like THAT!
the DVD of season by season is available. Worth the investment. Plus you can still-frame better and get the extras (so to speak).
Let's just say that the way Meloni/Keller finds to creatively break a punk's neck is worth the season's price alone (though i'm not sure that season is available yet, i only have Season One and Season Two).
To bring it all back to BWW, don't forget La Buckley is a regular, along with Rita-not-Chita and Bodaciously Dazzling Wong.
kj's post intrigued me, so I did a little research on LADIES THEY TALK ABOUT.
Looks like it had some snappy dialogue!--
Susie: Say, there isn't any punishment bad enough for you!
Nan: Yeah? Well, being penned up here with a daffodil like you comes awful close.
NOT available on DVD or VHS, unfortunately...
I stand corrected!
Think Stanwyck's Dress is cut low enough?
