Elphie, go to settings, and find shuffle -- hit it once, you get albums, twice you get songs, three times turns it off again. Then you can select a CD or a playlist or whatever, and it'll do whichever command you picked. Is that what you were asking?

Thanks, Em. I don't actually have an iPod, but I may be getting one, so I want to know if this is possible before I get it. Basically, can a regular iPod do what the iPod shuffle does if you want it to? Pick songs from different albums randomly?

Oh, yes! iPod shuffle can *only* do a few things that iPod can, I think. What it does is you stick your music on there and it just either plays it straight through or shuffles all of it, without option. Regular iPod can definitely do all of those things.
