We've had our recent discussion about whether or not we believe women's reproductive freedom is something that's a basic human right or something we would prefer the government intrude upon and deny. And that's all well and good.
But this thread is inspired by Mensa student Sherri Shepherd on The View yesterday. Sherri responded to a question from Bill Maher that YES, she does believe that Noah built a boat big enough to hold two of every species of animal and insect (and seven of some, but this wasn't mentioned on The View) and YES she does believe that Noah lived to be 900 years old (950 according to some biblical translations).
What about you? Do you believe that there was a Noah who built an arc that held EVERY species and who lived to be 900 years old.
I do know that Goth has previously stated that the Bible is literally true.
So that's 1 for the yes column and 1 for the no column, counting myself.
What column are you in?
THE NOAH TALLY
Yay 1
Nay 11
Noah? No.
The Tooth Fairy, however...now THAT bitch is REAL.

Okay, so that's one yay and two nays.
I never thought I'd be Goth's proxy.
(Somebody else is going to have to check my tallies because math is not my strongest suit!)
Noah? No ah way!

It HAS to be true because there have been at least three broadway musicals written about the subject. Stephen Schwartz is, like, the 13th apostle you know. They're not allowed to lie.
And don't get me going on that slutty bimbo Pandora. She was the original George W.
Haha, great opening post, Namo. I just read it!
I hope Sherri vos Savant never leaves the show.
Where did Noah find Penquins?

I believe Noah was a person who in his fight to save the country and the people who demanded change tried his best to bail out before the crisis could be averted and also he has always stood up to his family before and in all was, you know, well, it's obvious that sometimes that can mean a religious belief that all can provide a sometimes before he was in for all.
I wonder how Sherri "I don't think anything predated Christians" Shepherd works out the Noah vs. Jesus chronology.
Damn Joe too bad you weren't on the McCain ticket!
No to Noah
I hate when people take the bible literally...it is a piece of literature, god did not write it, a bunch of ordinary people did and it was meant to be figurative. I went to a catholic college and had to sit through 3 religion classes and nuns taught them and they don't take the bible literally, they say it's literature

I saw that yesterday. I believe in Noah, too, I just wish I could figure how the life expectancy dropped so sharply since his days. I mean, just 100 years ago, it was about 50 or so years. Was there something on the Ark that affected the genes of future generations?
I went to school with Joakim Noah so I'll have to throw my vote to him.
No on the real Noah. Also, it's a sin to eat shrimp!

Vote: Nope, sorry, I don't really believe all that stuff. A bunch of really cool stories, yeah, but living to 900 years? Not likely.
It ain't nessa-,
Ain't nessa-,
Ain't nessa-,
Ain't nessa-,
Ain't necessarily so!
