if they were within the within the legal distance then how did this case ever get to court?
No law was broken.

Don't get me wrong, I HATE HATE HATE these people, but sueleen brings up a good point about them wanting the publicity. Who really lost here?

papa - honestly, I was THIS CLOSE to severely altering my future when I saw them in Wyoming. And then those 'angels' showed up - and they WERE angels! - and I was spared.

But it was THIS DAMNED CLOSE to a different future getting laid out . . .

yeah, if he didn't break the law, this won't stay.

but as for publicity, I'm all for Phelps getting as much publicity as possible. I think he helps the LGBT community.

Ultimately, I think that Phelps should and will win on appeal.

However, that being said...it is nice to see that a jury of his peers found him and his band of scum sucking half-wits guilty, even if the verdict doesn't stand. I must admit I did a happy-dance.

But, I don't think anyone's first amendment rights should be taken away from them. When that starts happening to one person, no matter how despicable you find his ideas, it doesn't take a huge leap to imagine that the same thing could happen to anyone.

Freedom of speech means nothing unless it protects speech that we find repugnant.

As often happens, the grieving family sought relief in civil court because there was no way to punish them using legal methods- they were following the law. I have to think this will be overturned on appeal.

Maybe it's just my eyes, but to me this picture looks doctored. Maybe it's just the perspective, but the girl really looks like her part was pasted on to the background.

if you want the photographer's email address, pm me and you can ask him yourself if it's photoshopped. i don't believe it is or they would not have let it stand as long as they have.
