I blew up & brightened the picture from the Myspace homepage.
I like it.
Brad Fuller said that another picture will be on IGN this afternoon.
Man, I bet this will be scarier than the original and that one scared the poo out of me. Freddy was the first monster that ran. I could get out of being scared of Michael or Jason because I could outrun them. Freddy could not only catch you, he could just suddenly appear wherever he wanted. GAH!

It shocks me how many people Jason & Michael were able to kill.
He looks like a vampire from BUFFY that decided to dress up as Kruegar for Halloween.
But, I am glad they are sticking with the same basic concept as the original instead of being "modern"
I love the original film so much, I just don't know if I can bring myself to watch a remake. I remember seeing the original in a sold-out movie theatre on opening night as a teenager. It was one of the most thrilling cinematic experiences of my life. The shrieks, screams and jumps from the enthusiastic audience amplified every moment of a film that, due to the absence of the internet, people went in knowing little about on opening night.

Apparently the draft that leaked has been HEAVILY rewitten.

Fuller is hinting that the IGN picture will be a full face picture.

This picture makes him look like an alien with a Freddy mask on.
Couldn't you excape Freddy if you didn't believe in him?
MTVMANN - No. There were a few people in the series that say "You're not real" and then end up being a party favor. It's actually the fear that keeps Freddy alive. At the end of the original, Nancy says somethng to the effect of, "I'm not afraid of you anymore. I take back all of the energy I gave you." As the end revealed, it didn't stop Freddy but it weakend him.
For once... and maybe only once... I agree with Mister Matt.
I just re-watched the original a few weeks ago and DAMN if it isn't a tour-de-force. And those special effects are AWESOME... I'd hate to see a CGId Freddy (wasn't DREAM WARRIORS enough?!). I'm not sure what to think of this.
Jakie Earle Haley has got me interested though. LITTLE CHILDREN... I think that says it all...
P
"Dream Warriors" was one of the best in the series....I would say 3rd next to the original and "New Nightmare"
Pgenre - I will never forget those jaw-dropping effects the first time I saw them.

I loved New Nightmare. It was so topsy turvy.
I'd hate to see a CGId Freddy
Freddy is being CGIed. Some of his skull, tendons, & teeth will be visible. Kind of like The Dark Knight, but not as severe I believe.

Loved Dream Warriors. The Roach Motel kill always freaked me the fig out.
I just don't think anyone can ever be Freddy except Englund.
And I'm not one of those people who have anything against remakes, in fact I enjoy most of them. But Freddy's personality is just so iconic.
The scariest thing in the first "Nightmare on Elm Street" was the suprise ending with the mom!
Taz - That was "The Dream Master" (#4) with the roach motel

Good news everyone, the glove is unchanged!
The original Nightmare on Elm Street was so intense and terrifying and like Mister Matt said, without the internet, it was a brand-new terrifying thrill ride. I remember being intensely scared in a sold out theatre as well. (Remember when theatres used to sell out, because it was only showing on one or two screens and not 12). That was part of the thrill, actually getting into a movie on opening weekend.
The original "Nightmare" rocked my world and I'm a pretty big fan of the entire series and it really made me into the horror nerd I am today.
I like this image and I like the casting of Kelly Leek as Freddy.
Fingers crossed, optimistically.
Fingers crossed here, too but like someone else said this series is what turned me into the fan of horror that I am today. I just honestly don't understand why they're doing this one. Freddy was already "re-imagined" back in 1995 with NEW NIGHTMARE (the best Nightmare film next to the original) so this seems a bit redundant.
Does anyone know if Nancy will be part of this new film?

Nancy & Glen (or Dean, I forget) are in the film.
It would have been nice to have Langenkamp cast as Nancy's Mom...

I know Judith Hoag (Big Love) has a small part in it.
Nancy
Dean
Jesse (Johnny Depp's role in the original) I was wrong.
