Posted: 6/5/09 at 12:54pmI've found Facebook to be a great way to keep up with the charities and causes I support. And of course, it's wonderful catching up with friends who you've drifted away from.

When I ran an online fundraiser for Broadway Cares at Easter Bonnet time $175 of my total came from facebook people. That was the largest total of any of the other groups.

she had been brutally attacked and raped in the parking lot of her work. She never told anyone - not even the police.
Given everything else you've said about her mood swings, I would think there's a strong possibility she made this up to make you feel guilty.

That, also, crossed my mind but I'd hate to think anyone would make up something so terrible.

Posted: 6/5/09 at 5:36pmYou have every right to moderate your page how you please. On the otherhand, sometimes being a part of a community is accepting the negative. You just have to drawn the line where you feel best.

From a "free speech" standpoint...that's a constitutional concept. You're not the federal government, so it doesn't apply to you when you control the speech on your Facebook page.
From a practical standpoint, trolls and assholes often end up impeding speech by making people too scared or annoyed to post. Well-aimed deletions actually make forums more free. Banninate at will, I say.

It sucks that those things happened to her, it provides a reason for her behavior but it's not an excuse. You can only be there for someone for so long before they push you away too many times.

Posted: 6/8/09 at 12:45pmIt seems that PalJoey's idea of the rape being fake was dead on.

She emailed me from an address I didn't know about so, therefore, didn't block.
It was a very long attack of me, my looks, my interets, my clothes, etc. She claims that she never wanted to be my friend when she came to me asking to be my friend again. She said, instead, she knew I would accept her back after that and she needed to study me for a paper she was writing on personality disorders.

I once had up an angry status about my sister's bullying. My aunt, who is on facebook, saw it and e-mailed me a nasty and snarky paragraph or two. I responded politely, and next thing I know, my aunt (who is also my godmother) had un-friended me and blocked me. How cute!
I didn't like her much anyway, and she always favored my sister, but come on! My status is for me to show how I'm feeling or what I'm thinking, and she can't really expect me to change it for her sake. I can't wait for the next family gathering...

Posted: 6/9/09 at 1:50pmAnd that is one person I would kick right to the curb. I don't know you in person Eris0303, but you certainly seem stable and normal. That girl has some nerve using you as the subject for a paper, if that is true, without your consent.

Posted: 6/9/09 at 1:53pmstable and normal are not words i would generally associate even with the people i dearly love from bww.
