I need a really funny/memorable character song for an audition any suggestions? (female)

Harper Valley PTA is about as good as a funny story song can get.
It may take a bit of effort to uncover the sheet music but I believe the writer was also the singer and her name was Jeannie C. Riley.
Think rock-a-billy belt.

Summer in Ohio from L5Y is hilarious and a showstopper when performed correctly.
Repent from On the Twentieth Century is funny. Also try Nothing from A Chorus Line. Very funny!
Dance Ten, Looks Three from A Chorus Line
Saddle Tramp Blues or Don't call me Trailer Trash from 'Cowgirls'
They're more country-esk, but it's a rather funny musical.
Happy to Keep His Dinner Warm- How to Suceed...Trying.
Paris Makes Me Horny- Victor/Victoria
If you hadn't but you did-I believe its from Two on the Aisle. It's pretty hard though.
Girl in 14 G is cute as well.
I'm in a Kristin Chenoweth mood.
Totally blanking on the name of it- but the song in Guys and Dolls about how the girl is going to catch a cold because her boyfriend won't propose
Adalaide's Lament (sp)
Taylor the latte boy from Chenoweth's CD...it's not from any show but it's hilarious
Adam Hunter (2nd younger brother in Ragtime on Broadway) came to our school and did a gay version of Taylor the Latte Boy and it was SO funny. I actually liked it better....sorry for the threadjack, but i felt the need to express how hilarious it was. :)

The funniest song I have ever heard a female sing is: "You'd be surprised" by irving berlin, Madeline Kahn sang it at an Irving Berlin Celebration. If played extremely minimalistic, it brings down the house.
try "you can always count on me" from city of angels
Adalaides Lament G&D
Oklahoma? from DRS makes me laugh but that may be kinda tough.
hmm...nothing from a chorus line, talk to the genitals, popular is ironically funny but I don't know if that's what your looking for
I thought of some more, check out Once Upon a Matress, Princess Fred has some cute ones.
I agree that "Dance ten looks three" is a really good character piece as is adelaides lament and ado annies "i canin't say no" from oklahoma
Ever heard Miss Marmelstein from I can get it for you wholesale? Hey, it worked for Barbra, totally great audition piece. OOO, I think it's called my feet from the most happy fella. I know they're both kinda obscure but at least nobody else will be singing 'em.
Happily Ever After or Shy from Once Upon a Mattress.
Woe is Me or I Speak Six languages from Spelling Bee.
If My Friends Could See Me Now or I'm a Brass Band from Sweet Charity.
Popular from Wicked is also a good one.
One Hundred Easy Ways from Wonderful Town... or as someone mentioned... A Summer in Ohio from L5Y is hysterical, I used it for an audition last year and it worked well.

I knooooow L5Y is taboo, but it's just so freakin' good! Haha.
"Climbing Up Hill", if done properly and with the comedic timing down - to - a - tee, is a killer.
But I dunno your time restraints. You can do just the audition part ("When you come home...I should have told them I was sick last week" up to "Thank you. Thank you so much.") or you can do the whole piece, but it's kind long.
Of course, I wouldn't perform any JRB stuff for Colleges or for anything professional, but it's great for everything else ~ especially if your audience isn't theatre savvy.
Yeah, it's been fours years and (along with the rest of the theatre-loving world...) I'm still insanely in love with the show. And for a damn good reason too! Just listen to it! =D
