The Funny Thing happened on the Way to the Forum movie is on Showtime at the moment.
I have never seen it before, it seems a bit strange but not too bad. If anyone wants to catch it, at least it is fun and has some good songs.
Feel free to discuss, or forget I ever posted this.

Oh, man I can't stand that movie. I'm glad you're enjoying it, though. I guess it's just not my style, eh?
Speaking of a young Michael Crawford, have you seen Condorman? Pure genius, I tell you.

I did not like Michael Crawford at all.
Zero is brilliantly Zero.
I enjoy it - sad they cut music, as can be expected, but...yeah.

Posted: 11/17/05 at 12:25amI've never seen it either. I still need to find time to watch The Producers.

Posted: 11/17/05 at 12:27amThere's this karaoke bar that has songs from "A Funny Thing Happened..." Is it just me or is that odd for a karaoke bar?

I'm not exactly "enjoying" it. As I said, I find it "not too bad" and I love the music that is actually in it.
P- I have the Producers on DVD and have never actually dropped it in.

Posted: 11/17/05 at 12:34amThe movie just always seemed so dreary to me. The whole additional Lycus subplot (presumably added to beef the role up for Phil Silvers) was distracting. And the chase scene, a great moment on stage, just falls flat.

Posted: 11/17/05 at 12:38amNever seen it on stage... But I'm totally with you on everything else. I thought it was just kind of boring, all the humor was just based on sex.

Posted: 11/17/05 at 12:38amSo far, for me, every scene without a song has been very slow and not very funny.

Posted: 11/17/05 at 12:49amI love this movie so much! Haha, gosh...I'm sorry you're not enjoying it. I think that it's hilarious, but you could partially attribute that to watching it a few times a year for four years during Latin class.

Posted: 11/17/05 at 1:02amIt seems like something I would have liked when I was younger, it just seems to be moving slowly right now, and it is very choppily directed.

Posted: 11/17/05 at 1:17amIt's such a campy show anyway, though... I think that the bad direction is almost fitting.

I liked the film, but didn't like it as an adaptation.
I thought it was funny, and Zero's performance was worth the cost alone...

Posted: 11/17/05 at 2:18amI don't like the movie at all. I found it quite boring, actually. I was worried when I was asked to choreograph the play, but the play is SO much funnier.

Posted: 11/18/05 at 11:51amIt is better than A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC the movie. But that is not saying much. Watching Zero, Buster Keaton, Phil Shilvers do their schtick should be joyus, but somehow the whole thing is sad.

The play is far superior to the movie, but there are still some good performances. I don't like Crawford though - his characters always make me nervous and he's hard to watch.
Gotta Love Jack Gilford.

Posted: 11/18/05 at 6:29pmI thought this movie was awful! My parents bought it for me for Christmas right after we saw the show. Usually, when you're little, you love everything. This was one of the few things I didn't like. It's just......silly. I know it's supposed to be silly, but they went too far.
