i love LaChuisa's style and intricacies, "Marie Christine" is a fave of mine.
Jason Robert Brown's "The Last Five Years" is some genius on stage.
and Adam Guettel, he's got the heritage and the talent to back up his wonderful work so far.
but overall I pick LACHUISA!

Edited to supply reasoning: Jason Robert Brown is an absolute genius. I cannot listen to his stuff enough! The Last 5 Years and Songs for a New World are two of my favorite shows of all time. I also love MJL so he was a close second.

Ya'll don't give Ricky Ian Gordon enough credit! His work is pretty amazing, my favorite being Only Heaven. Hearing Darius deHaas sing "Heaven" is amazing, and "Daybreak In Alabama" is one of my favorite songs of all time.

Brown is simply the best
It is ridiculous to set a detective story in New York City. New York City is itself a detective story...

No question of the four Brown is my favorite -- The Last Five Years would have been enough (dayenu), but Parade, Songs for a New World...and Someone To Fall Back On! Nothing against Guettel or LaChuisa - and if The Princess Bride is great, Guettel will REALLY give Brown a run for his money, but for now, Brown wins. I never got into Gordon's work.

The Last 5 Years brings me to tears nearly every time that I listen to it. The only Gordon that I am familiar with is My Life with Albertine which I only hear songs from on accuradio, and these don't ever make me want to listen to the whole show.
Each of these men is certainly tremendously talented though.

The only thing I find more tiresome that Mr. Brown's music is the man himself.
